Sequential turbos, if we're gonna be picky. The engine layout is still very similar. Many smaller changes, but not many enough IMO.

I've seen several with about 80k come out from the oilfield of West Texas that are in fine shape. (We don't keep anything with mileage.)
But I've haven't heard of that shattering... Yet! The psds only shatter when you get above 36lbs of boost I think is the magic number. And my buddy with the 6.7 psd has had that piece shatter 3 times before the aftermarket world made a aluminum replacement. He had deletes done and was pushing 720hp and 1360tq before it hit 1000 miles. Lol but the truck rattles and squeaks like a 15yr old truck. And there is something on the bottom of the truck that bangs against the floor when your on the highway every 5-10 mins or so and it does it for a min or two and it's so loud you can't hardly talk. Dealer can't figure out what's causing it. Lol I can't remember what else he's already got rid of it and got a 14.

H&E came to service a man lift at our job. That truck has 98k on it and has went through 3 motors already. Both times it was gps taking out valves. They have 6 of these 6.7 psd and only 1 other has had the motor replaced. They are selling the two that have had the motors replaced and getting a gm and a dodge.

Can't figure out what's causing it?! He was running that tuned WAY too high, for starters. Almost doubling the HP and TQ is never good for it. I'm not surprised in the least that he had problems with it. Jeez . . .

Yeah but it's BLUE, diesel caps are GREEN. I'd only let it slide of your colorblind, but if your colorblind you know shapes sizes and other ways to differentiate things haha but yeah it should be in a different spot to lessen the chances

Oh, I think where it is is a great spot for it. People just need not be R-tards lol.

Unless I towed over 5k weekly I couldn't justify the maintenance cost and initial cost of a 3/4 ton diesel.

The 5.4 unless upgraded is a dog in the 3/4 ton. But parts and ownership is cheap. Lots of power adders available, but is horrible on gas. Not to mention the 3v in 04 was just engineering gone wrong.

Moreover, if your going with a 3/4 -1 ton without doing lots of modifications the diesel is the obvious winner.

Not a fan of the sequential turbos on the 6.4 but I think it's a better factory diesel than the 6.0. Buying head bolts for a diesel isn't cheap. The tty on the 6.0's sucked.

Tons of articles on each engine. Just do some research on diesel forums and make your choice. There is a huge discrepancy in price of an 08 diesel vs 04 5.4

Those H&E trucks are completely stock. And the hp/tq ratings shouldn't have anything to do with the cab giving him problems. Regardless all the new diesels are good, sound sweet, and have enough power to do what needs to be done.

If you get an early model make sure you check what has been recalled on them. The 6.0 has quite a few.

I'm talking about the guy that had the 13 and got a 14. On the truck with 3 motors, I bet it's the same case as the guy on here that's had 5 motors in his Ecoboost. Something else is wrong, cause there's no way 3 motors have gone out in that few of miles without something malfunctioning that isn't being fixed.

x2 or operator error. Nobody gets that unlucky with new engines. And they're not normally junk, I've honestly heard nothing but good about them except from him, aside from regular brand bashing
