It's only two motor that went out. And the mechanic was telling me he thought it was from letting the truck idle all day every day. He was saying this it idle for 10-12hrs a day! And when dad bought his truck they told him with dpf the truck isn't supposed to idle more than 5 min max! And that's why his turbo had to be cleaned numerous times and finally replaced. Cause in the winter plowing we would leave it running the whole time we were working so we could keep warm. I wish I had the money to buy all three just to have first hand real world pulling working off-roading longevity reliability mpg all of that cause without owning all of them I will always stick to what I was raised around.

yeah the truck isnt supposed to idle as much anymore as with like the 7.3 or other engines. it kills your warranty, cause now for is making them check the engine hours instead of actual miles they say the idling does just as much damage or more to parts such as injectors and pumps.

I agree, There's been a few 6.7 cummins guys around here with the same issue, letting it idle, then the DPF clogging it up and causing all sorts of issues

They build these new diesels and set them up for failure. You take an older 5.9 or a 7.3 and it will idle FOREVER! My papas genny for his irrigation pumps is a 98 7.3 psd that runs and 1500rpm for 6.5 yrs now. Probably 6k hrs a year. And it had over 375k miles on it when we put it in 6.5 yrs ago.

Yeah that's the beauty of a diesel, they were meant for that originally. The new emissions crap just chokes them down

Yup, that'll do it.

I like the old Detroits that they use for tug boats, etc. in harbors that run 24/7, 365 (literally) and even have some kind of bypass to change the oil while running.

And now days kids get them to compensate for them being a loser. There's a couple people on here that have them cause they think it gives them status. And they have/will never use them for their purpose. And it's people like that, that have ran diesel prices up and the cost of owning one. When I was a kid diesel was always lower than has. And got better mpg than a gasser. Now days diesels a dollar more and they get the same mileage maybe a little worse than a gasser. And it's a combo of these dumb kids and manufacturers greed. And now these trucks for depreciate at all cause the kids spend momma and daddy's money or live with momma daddy so they can afford to spend top dollar for a ten yr old truck. I am getting ready to buy a diesel. But it's not to be cool to my buddy's. It's to make doing what needs to be done a lot easier for me. My trucks gonna blow it's guts out if I keep working it like I am. I was shopping around to get an idea. There was a 99 ctd extend cab 4x4 w/nv5600 and it didn't even have a bed it was a flat bed w/89k for 29k! What a joke man!

my words exactly, and im 18 lol, im one of like 20 kids who owns a truck at school, and 1 of 3 who actually bought his truck. the rest are like hey momma can I get a new truck, it gets better though. a couple of the kids have totaled or rolled there trucks so the typical (my) parents would've gotten me a little Mitsubishi and said have a good life. these parents go and the them another f150, with custom everything! 6in sky jackers, 33" tires, exhaust.. its just depressing, these kids aren't gonna know what to do with them selves in the real world.
