I haven't driven the Acura in I don't know how long, and today I found the (AGM) battery is dead, dead, dead. Like 4.5 volts dead. I tried putting my *old* Schumacher charger on it just so I could pop the trunk, and it started buzzing hard and pegged in both 2A and 10A charging modes. (I haven't tried it on another battery yet to see if the charger is cooked, or what might be going on.) This got me to looking at a new charger, since this one isn't AGM-rated, and I just ordered a NOCO Genius10. Thought I'd share the code "CRT15" which saves 15% in case anyone else is in the market. Shipping was only $2.95, AND they didn't charge tax(?) (shhhhh!), so I'm saving over Amazon and not giving Bezos more $$ toward his *****-rockets.

P.S. I also got the NOCO case or $21 with the discount. It's $37
on Amazon. on Amazon.

EDIT: I found that an even better deal is available using my Capital One Shopping add-in through zoro.com (owned by Grainger, so it's legit.). 15%-off code "CSCWBFP3Y4RPB," and another 15% back ($12.75) in my Capital One rewards account for a total price of $76.78. Need to make sure I can cancel the NOCO-direct order first, though.

... And there's an aftermarket case for $16
on Amazon on Amazon
.

My current charger (pun intended).

My Schumacher has an AGM setting due to the lower resistance. I wonder if that's why your meter pegged? Mine is digital.

If I understand it right AGMs charge at a lower V than standard, and you'll smoke an AGM on a standard charger.

Give that man a ceeeegar!

From the Interstate Batteries web site:

"An AGM-compatible battery charger sends more amps into a lead-acid battery while keeping the voltage less than 14-15 volts. AGM chargers go through the three charging phases (bulk, absorption and float) just like a regular charger. However, a regular charger could exceed 17 volts when charging a battery."

I actually have two 100AH AGM batteries as backup on my amateur radio station, but I don't want to risk connecting this battery to that power supply/charger for risk of smoking *that*!

The hurdles continued, but I think it's ACTUALLY going to work now.

Coming at you from a MacOS virtual machine running on Windows 10. It was a huge PITA to get it to work.

The resolution is *****. Need to try and find a way to help that.
