I installed Chrome, and it said Mac OS was too old as well, and it also wigs out when the mouse hovers over the browser.

I'll see what I can find in the recycle pile, and go from there. Don't think it'll take Mojave?

What is the CPU that's in there? Is it a Duo?
Nahhh, So which OS did you install ? NM, - Snow Leopard/update OS via Safari/all updates, run browser again. Should be compatible. Things are going to be real goofy until you update the OS.

I sent you picks of the CPU. I can look it up, here yuh go T7600 specs, -

I put the OS that said 2010 on it - think it said Snow Leopard on it too. The other one said 2007, and the OEM disc said 2005, I believe. Gotta wait for my buddy to get to work, and I'll ask him if he's got something newer. Thanks for the specs on the CPU, it's much appreciated!!!

I am starting to hate how lazy and cheap some people are. I have wanted to tear the carpet out of the house since we bought it and the ex wouldn't let me. I got bored last month and started tearing carpet out and what do I find?

Wait, hardwood floor? This bears further investigation..................

Jinkies we have a mystery on our hands, why the hell would anyone spackle a ceiling and not cover the wood then put carpet in? (in the hallway you'll see laminate wood that is sitting on top of the hardwood on the left hand door.)
Spoiler

Dining room is a bit of a mess but nice hard wood floor throughout the house.

This was the carpet in the library

This is the floor as of yesterday

My grandmother's house had oak floors, and every bit of it was covered with carpet. When I bought it, I pulled the carpet from the bedrooms, hallway, and entry, and refinished the wood there, but put new wall-to-wall in the living room. (Not everyone wants hard-surface flooring everywhere.)

Keep in mind that hardwood floors used to be the norm, so covering them with carpet was no big deal. (It was actually an upgrade "back in the day.) Kind of like cutting up a '67 fastback Mustang in 1976. It was "just a car" back then.

I've seen that a lot in the past Aragorn. Some folks would rather have carpet I guess. Pretty cool discovery. Strange how the bedroom steps up, is there two layers of finish flooring in there ?

No problem. Yea 2010 must of been the last time I fooled with it. You could just research what people are running are their old mini's, use to be a big community. Did you have a chance to confirm the memory socket yet, are you running two sticks now ? Personally I would run two matched sticks of crucial memory in that machine...it's a mac thing.

The step up is just from the cheap laminate they put over the wood. It's all as level as a 59 year old house can be. To get the laminate out I have to have one of the other rooms ready since there is a "lot" of furniture in the master bedroom (the one with the laminate.)

Most of my annoyance is just the fact that I'm going to have to get the spackle and paint off the floor and the ex fought with me over removing the carpet. But that was one of our many fights so................yeah. I'll be much happier once I get the rest of the carpet out of the living room.

I didn't see much spackle in the picks. But yea, if you can't get it all up with a putty knife it's going to suck. You don't want to use steel wool , that will make a clean spot...don't want that. Wetting it might help get rid of any residual after scraping. But yea, PITA...unless yopu refinish. That's a lot of work. Home depot rents a sander that would make for quick work with the prepping...still, you'll have to go through the sealing process after.

That's basically my plan is to rent a floor sander and refinish it all. Need to get rid of some furniture and stuff I don't want/need/use and then rent a large sander and grind it all down. Lot of work but well worth it IMO. Just have to have it quit snowing/freezing/snowing/freezing and warm up long enough for me to get it all done.

The white on the floor is the spackle/paint, it scratches off pretty easy but manually scraping isn't in the plans unless I have to.

Sorry, I just saw your email.... been slow getting to my email today. Still just have the one, 2GB stick in it right now. The other stick I have is the same part number..... hoping now that an OS is loaded that it will take the other stick. I've seen that happen on a PC.
