Demoing another 01 next week. This one is 1 ton with 17 metal lol. Haven't seen it yet, I guess it's black w/17 front clip and bed. The PO lifted it though. I don't know what it is with 01's, but this guy gets a lot of them for auction.

Thins that sucks is I wanted to change the pump to the new 60 psi pump while we had it apart. But he was wanting to sell it at that point. After it ran so good, he decided he liked it enough to keep it. Man, this sucks. Sounds like the weekend after next I am going to go down there with a dolly and pull it with mine. Better get to some things I've needed to on it (trans fluid).

I could use one of these for the trip I mentioned above. The 2001 is a good year to have.

Jeeezz, well make sure it can be dollied safely.. I'm not sure it can. Well you can, but it isn't recommended. Look into it anyway. Dollies are only good for so much weight, the truck might be too heavy. 2100 might have checked into it.

Well the Uhaul says max weight is 3900 pounds. Is that for the entire vehicle or just the front? I can't seem to find any clarification. I hope the 4.6 is up for it, lol.

I know they're not very much, 3900 seems a little low, try Penske as well. Your tow vehicle needs to be heavier than what your towing. Think that rules you out. Well, you'll have to remove the DS. 300 miles, I'd go with a trailer myself.

Haha, yea , I would tow it for yuh. The last 01 I checked out sat in the drive for pretty close to a month. He new I wasn't interested after a couple days, didn't feel right driving it after that lol. They both have 7threes. Really didn't want to go through that again. This one has new metal from a 2017 Superduty, except for the cab, -peaked a little interest I guess.

Hiring a flatbed too costly for him ? I guess that might cost a bit. I think you going to have to go with a trailer, unless you chain him back home lol.

His truck is a 2wd. I Will have to do more research. I am more concerned about braking than anything.

Whitey.....He might be better off renting the trailer and maybe a 3/4 pickup truck from uHaul or home depot that can pull that weight. I know these trucks can handle it once in a while, but as they age, what they can do goes down over time. You know the 4R's weakness, so consider that also. Is there any mountains you'd be going thru that would put a bunch of stress on your truck? I don't know your area, so I'm at a loss for how you'd have to go to bring it home.

Yeah uhaul has light weight tow Dolly's... probably to keep people from going too big with vehicles. The 3900 is total vehicle weight. Some other companies have beefier Dolly's. Also they recommend the tow vehicle be 750-1000lbs heavier than the vehicle you are towing.

I ended up just renting a car hauler and my 01 pulled the Highboy 160miles without issue. (Indiana is a bunch of flat corn fields) i think it would've done ok in the mountains but most likely would've struggled to maintain speed going uphill.
