I'd take a 20 year old MAC chest over pretty much anything, but yea, -HF and US General, best bang for the buck. There use to be a site called Garage Journal (not sure if it's still around), - good info about boxes there, -comparisons. If you have a Menards store
close by, they carry good boxes as well.
Yeah I was searching CL as I would take an old Mac or snap on chest in a heartbeat but I'm not coming up with much. Funny you mention garagejournal cz that's where I stumbled on HF having decent stuff lol. I was sold on getting the Kobalt 41" 2000 series chest but they no longer offer it in blue so I started looking around. Which is when I found garage journal. I've seen HF and they did look good but part of me can't shake the "its HF" Feeling if you know what I mean LOL. Master force was the other name on the short list and I think I'll have to go in and check theirs out in person.'(bonus they too offer blue). Thanks for the feedback!
You might want to try Craftsman. With Sears going out in certain areas, stuff is quite cheap right now. I just looked at my Sears, which is closing next month, and boxes were 50 to 60% off right now. I have 2 so I don't need another, but tools are cheap right now here.
I stumbled on a roll cab and top chest from a company called Huot ( i think)- looks like ‘60’s design- its a beast!- they were throwing it out!- (i couldnt let that happen...) i have my r/c tools, chargers, etc. in it.
Hope you fellers have a great weekend- looks like im going to start touching up the hardwood floors 😛
The new US General boxes are great. I purchased two for work, and they have a lot of weight in them, and the drawers slide nicely.... they are well built, and very cost effective.
Well, gee, how do you make a compliment on this?
Nice chest?...
Nice set?...
Nice drawers?...
Ok... it looks like a real good quality tool cabinet.
Thats better 😁

There's a couple manufacturers that compete with the US General. Waterloo is one, can't recall the other, -Menards use to carry them. But yea, US General boxes are in the small percentage of actual Good Stuff that Harbor Freight carries. Only takes one hand to count Good HF stuff lol.

With Harbor Freight, it's definitely a matter of knowing what's good vs complete crap. It's like a freak dollar store that occasionally drops a gem. Far and in between but stuff like Floor jacks and Jack stands, they couldn't be beat AFA value per dollar on that stuff. GJ is a good source of info about the what and where.
I spent my night putting fog lights in the little 'Yota. My drive along I-80 spans roughly 25 miles, and it isn't lit very well.....so this has been a desire since day one of owning the little buggar, LOL.
