Well before I flushed it it was reading 190 via torque app. Sometimes jumped up to 192 and down to 188. Will try to get some readings of it tomorrow to see if anything has changed

I started typing that I thought 190-192 was a bit low, because mine has a 195 degree stat from the factory. Looks like your is supposed to be a 192 though...

You know, maybe my pump was part of the issue too, because I did them the stat and pump at the same time.

This is what I put in....

If you look closely, you can see where the thermostat was rubbing down the center... it was getting stuck on the "stem" in the center.

Whitey.....Very common problem with the older thermostats. At least you caught it before it hung closed, and caused an overheat.

I was out today shopping for tomorrow, getting the stuff for some serious taco's and nacho's, when I came upon this. Now, I'm not sure, but I don't think that drive up ramps are suppose to mount that way, but for some reason, his did. lol Interesting design for a front bumper, don't you think?

I got one for you guys. I was online a couple months ago, and saw a name that rang a bell from my teen years (ion's ago now). Anyways, I sent a message to see if this was really who I knew back then, as it was only a name without a picture. I'll be damned. It was my old (3rd ever) girlfriend. We struck up a conversation, and it's actually seeming to take us back to our older days when we were together, if that is possible. What shocked me the most, is that she hasn't changed very much at all. Still quite beautiful, looks 35, not 60. I hate to say this, but I think I fell back in love with her already, that is if I ever stopped in the first place. It wouldn't of worked then, but now there isn't so many barriers...... Damn, At least its' warmer here than the North Pole, lol. Hmmm.

I've seen it all now, LOL. Ramps as a bumper.... that is unique for sure!

I am glad that the computer threw a code, because it appeared to be getting to operating temp to me, as it was always reading 186-190 on the scanner when I scanned it. When it threw the code, it was getting stuck further open and only hitting 178ish. Honestly, with all of the vehicles I have ever owned, that was the first thermostat that actually failed on me. I've replaced a lot of working stats.... thinking they were the problem, but found another issue was the actual cause. I do only run a Robert Shaw 180 in the Mustang though, because that thing doesn't like being warm. Might be OK now that I've got the Taurus fan on it.

BTW.... AK, why does the stat for my Escape look like it is actually TWO stats in one piece? It looked like one might be a safety piece, or something. Really strange looking piece.

Anyway.... have you guys seen all of the wonderful (mis)information over here, LOL.... https://www.f150forum.com/f6/removin...6/#post5648955

Eric O. on the South Main Auto channel (Youtube) posted a video this morning and used this tool by OTC (called a Blast Vac) to flush a heater core.

Amazon Amazon

I think I need one.

Saw it , was going to comment but then saw the f 1fiddy and was reminded of the stupidity on that Facebook page and wasn't sure if he was part of that "scene" and then I saw the other comments later and decided it was best to stay away LOL

Snap On had one on their trucks back in the 90's. Our quick service tech had one and it worked great with the air pressure and back flushing. I used it on my 75 F100, and loved the heat afterwards.

Whitey....I think that is one thread to stay away from posting on. LOL

Matco has a brass one, but the old Snappy isn't listed anymore. It probably blew up too many cores with too much air pressure. LOL Here is the current Matco one. https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/p...ackflush-tool/
