I measure in smiles per miles.
I don't drive a lot anymore, so I like to enjoy it.
2016 SCAB XLT 5.0 3.73 gears.

I mostly do short trips and my average is about 14 MPG.

I hear you white, when i first started at the ford dealer i drove 110 miles a day, my 500 dollar civic more than paid for itself in fuel savings, same with my 600 dollar olds that replaced it. My truck was a driveway ornament

Quick off subject question. I've got people asking me to do all kinds of crap on their cars lately, then want to know "how much"? Is there a FREE resource that I can use to know "book time" on labor? I never know what to charge.

Thanks!

AllData DIY you can pay per vehicle and hide the charge in the repair bill.
Just sucks if you are giving estimates and then they don't show.

Why not just do actual time X [rate]?

Alldata at the library is where I find labor times for the bids I write (for the railroad and Autoliv)
Even then, I just adjust my labor rate to charge what I want
If they had a lower bidder, they would maybe use them

There is book time in auto repair.
I might take an hour to do the job, another mechanic could do it in 45 min.
Another in 1.5 hrs. book time keeps us honest.

A lil funny, that you want to be paid, but don't want to pay someone who made a resource. My younger wrench pays online for a service, I think by the month. Presently he's upset that the update shows about 20% more time than the old version, which is more accurate in his eyes. Edit: You have to find your preferred way to charge for estimates. "How much?" "Oh, seat of pants, probably 3-500 at X$/hr. Closer estimates are $5."
