Thinking
Best of luck with your recovery, Bill.
EXHAST QUESTIONS
1) The rear exit pipe on my 5x11x22" Magnaflow broke loose, so it's time for a new muffler. Magnaflow will send me pretty much whatever I want as a replacement. I always thought the big 22" one was a bit too quiet, so I'm debating between the 5x8x18 and the 5x8x24. Any opinions from the "Thinking'" consortium? I'd like something a little louder under acceleration, but still quiet while at cruise. I'm also not sure if the 5x8 will use a center/offset or an offset/offset. Nether the C/O or the O/O in the 5x8 matches the current 5x11 C/O exactly.
2) I should be able to re-re-use this tailpipe, but if not, can I easily swap to the '97 style, or is the side hanger location not there on the 98+?
(I'll post this to the whole peanut gallery if needed.) Thanks.

Say your 281 is like mine, 175 elec and the rest PNG.
(Having had PG&E classes for contractors on this...)
Historically, elec increases have been 6, 6.5 & 7%/yr.
In 10 years 175 elec would be 350.
We had a recent year at 10.5% due to a gas main exploding in a rich neighborhood, (and learned some pipe X-rays were fraudulent.)
Wildfires and claims indicate we may be seeing a 13% raise, approved by the PUC.
Solar can be paid off in 10 years, so versus $350, you might pay $20 "connection fees," and no elec bill.
The good lease programs are gone and what remains are "eternal" scams. Pay, they retain ownership. Balloon payment, then buy a replacement from them.
Buy w home equity loan at 6%. Paid off in 10. No elec bill versus 350. Too many trees kills it.

I saw a flareside with a set yesterday. Wish I would've thought to get a picture, because it looked silly as all get out. Even with spacers or wider tires, they would've looked goofy. I think it's the combination of the bubble shape of the bed and the second bubble-shaped flare. Blech.
