Yea I had to rebuild porch posts on house #3. They used cheap pine and painted over. Rotted from the ground up. Easy job though. Fascia, wooden soffit and trim will do the same using cheap pine with time. Termites can help that along. I've seen woodpeckers and thought they were the cause, but it's usually termites, products used or poor workmanship around here.
Yep being a homeowner for 3years now I have grown to hate people who take shortcuts or just plain don't know how to fix things but try anyway; made my life a living hell when doing projects. What you don't see on that corner is all the structural wood inside we had to fix too, all rotten from water damage and cheap halfcrapped fixes. I used cedar, yeah wasn't going cheap with pine, especially not risking that after paying somebody some $$$ to paint everything lol. I will say whoever replaces that front door next is gunna hate me, it's gunna take a dang tornado to get that thing free from the house. That woodpecker damage I know it's them cz I've heard/watched/scared them away, going with a composite to hopefully stop... there's nothing but metal chimney framing behind the trim so I'm not sure what they are trying to get at lol

That would be roughly 3 gallons per day for me. My fault for moving so far out, but man this place is beautiful and in a great place. I couldn't pass it up, LOL. Looks like I've got a Yaris now... it's even silver like a beer can, LOL.

Good to hear. I hear you on the throwing arm issues. I played basketball with my daughter the other day, and my torn rotator cuff reminded me who's boss, LOL. I did just buy a house Friday, and sold mine today.... errr, at least I am under contract on both. Guess something could prevent it from happening.

That's great glad to hear! It would of been easier if I went that route after getting the low down on capital gains tax. Should have paid more attention to that

But, I want to build this one...solid! Just have to be a little quicker than I like and less frugal. Hell, who can't defrugal lol.

BTW, - Did you check the neighbors out ? You won't need OSB perimeter walls around this one will you ?

Ya man, if you need a fuel efficient car and have a couple days to travel that's what I would do. If you plan ahead you can get the plane ticket cheap. You could definitely do it under 250 bucks including the ticket and fuel.

Stick a plastic owl on the roof, woodpeckers won't come near it.

Well today the weather sucked. It rained all day. I decided to stay dry, so I pulled the rest of the dash around the cluster and redid it to match everything up. I installed the Gator steering wheel also, so it completes the dash. I still have to install radio again. I decided to leave it out tonight. Why give the thieves an open opportunity to rip you off, if it's not locked in. I'll finish it in the morning and post up some pictures tomorrow.

I've a second steering column surround panel, so with that I'm going to add a couple switches with LED's. I've got that new 32'' light bar, so I think I'll mount that behind the grille with one switch, and a second one for the rear lights (LED 4'' squares). I was going to hook the squares to the back up switch, but decided to give it a dedicated remote switch instead. I like the option of being able to use them without having to move the transmission lever to "R" and have the key on. Both will have their own relay, even though one relay would suffice the load. I just like to keep things to one item per system. It cuts down on problem searches if something goes wrong.

We have little 3" square led lights on our lift trucks that come from a local auto/farm store- i want to hang one under the rear bumper and tie it into the back up lights- i just cant seem to see very well in the dark anymore!
