anyone here ever put in a "severe duty fan clutch" in their 10th gen F150's ?
I heard they usually go at the same time the water pump goes (vice versa).
Mostly age deteriorates them.
a "severe duty" fan clutch has more grab, thus more HP robbed.
more air moved per revolution with the "severe duty"

Motorcraft PW423 is what you need. F8AZ-8501-AA Ford part number. This fits your 2000 w 4.6 or 5.4.

In the cars, there are 2 different ones available. Something to do with the impellers. PW496 is the other number. Same housing and tubes, so that leaves the impeller either shielded or open fins.

Factory 2-row radiator with A/C and towing package has the severe-duty fan clutch OEM from Ford. That should include the OffRoads and FX4 models also.

I was going to go with this option:
(severe duty fan clutch with water pump assembly) but it's aftermarket made by GMB.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...6846&jsn=10487

I can't find a "severe duty" fan clutch for the 4.6 made by motorcraft in a water pump assembly combo...
RA indicates Motorcraft fan clutches as "thermal" & ("heavy duty" YB3041)

should I go aftermarket, or will I regret it ?

It was $50 last year this time, now it's $65 for the same one (PW423)..
I knew I should have put one on the side.

Yes and the M30 hub is the threaded end for the screw on fan clutch.

I'll drive up to Richmond tomorrow to see grand kids. I'll go by dealer there. They are pretty good.
Yea , you need something different than I'm thinking then. All I can recall from back then is the tail gate would rattle when shut and that fixed it.

I went back out to look at the ketch bolts and bushings. The left looks great but the right looks worn.
I measured and it measures the same ID and OD as 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC
Thanks for pointing those out. May as well replace those while I'm doing the rest.
