Morning, Fellers!

It's Friday!! Thanks Bear and Ohio for the compliments! I'm hoping to find some time this weekend to get this thing ready for next weekend. I was looking under the hood.... and I've kinda "let it go". One thing that has bothered me since I painted it was the fact the guy didn't paint the top of the fender that shows under the hood. Well, yesterday, after 10.5 years, I decided it was time (see pic below). I am going to pick up a gallon of Simple Green tonight and give it hell. Since I've owned it I've been dealing with this "wax" that the PO sprayed all over under the hood.... you can see it in the "after" pic. The Simple Green was getting it off when I tried last night..... so, I'm going to go nuts with that and some kind of a brush. Wish me luck.... and as always, I'm open to ideas.

EDIT: I also threw another camera up in the garage.... doesn't seem to be as clear as my other cameras on NV, but I wanted to be able to possibly use some of this footage if needed.

Details make a difference, White.

I'd clean up the underside of the hood, then get a new insulation blanket to put on. If you want to dress it up a little, you can hit it with some hi-fill primer and satin black paint before install.

I definitely need to do that. I removed the old blanket because it was coming apart and pieces were falling down on the motor. I also need to replace the hood seal on the firewall...

Nice finishing touch white. Like I said and JMO but clear lenses on a white vehicle is the cleanest look. Anything else just distracts from a white paint job.

Thanks Rivers, that means a lot! I ordered that hood blanket Ohio posted, a new hood seal, new (hood) bumper hardware, and I'm going to go get some more Oxford White. I really want to find some kind of a cap for my A/C lines that hang out of the firewall.

Just a side note, I kept all of the A/C parts from Frankie just in case I decide to put A/C back in The Eight Nine. I am also hanging on to all of the emissions components, just in case. Yep... I have a four cat H-Pipe even.

I want to put a strut tower brace back on it.... but as I recall, my BBK brace makes contact with my intake. My Buddy recently put a Maximum Motorsports brace on his 89 'vert, and loves it. Way more clearance. Kind of similar to the SN95 setup, @OhioLariat It grabs on at the pinch welds on the firewall. Just seems smarter. MM makes some REALLY good stuff!

I'm not sure about the rest of the country, but in UT all recreational vehicles (ATV's, Boats, etc.) are due for registration in April. Today's the last day... better get 'em done!

I used Chassis Saver Antique Satin black. Im happy with its coating ability and it seems very durable. Had a few buddies use the stuff on their Highboys so I figured Id give it a shot.

That's a good episode, noobs. That's probably the storm they got down south, and we got nothing up here in the north. That is very rare for them to get snow and not us.

I cleaned up under the hood for a couple hours today. I'm still not finished. I used Simple Green.... ran out of that so I used some oven cleaner. Holy crap that stuff works good. Had to be REALLY careful not to get it on my paint. Speaking of paint.... I went to Autozone, NAPA, and O'Reilly, and none of them had any Oxford White. NAPA and Autozone were acting like fools... said they couldn't even order it. But, O'Reilly pulled through and got me a couple cans on the way. Should be here tomorrow. You guys probably can't tell... but it's quite a bit better.

Car looks great. Clear lights really make it look great.

What is under the rectangle taped spot on the inner edge of the fender. Label of some kind?
