Thinking
Good guess, but no. You're thinking along the right lines though.
I can't say I remember ever discussing the car but the Pantera replaced the Mangusta. The car has an interesting history in that a movie, Shelby vs. De Tomaso could be made about it's history. It's even unconfirmed rumor that Tom McEwen named his 60's dragster Mongoose after the Mangusta. The early European version of the car is the most desirable because they had the 289 and ZF transaxle used in first F40's and the imported cars had a 302. There's one in The Henry Ford Museum car collection where all of this is laid out.
At the end of last year White introduced me to an interesting young guy down in Kentucky. He works on heavy equipment but is working to open his own shop and I've been doing what I can to help him out as much as I can and when I can. Although he's done a lot that's notable I'd say the 2 highlights are redesigning Ford supercharger induction for more power and space and his PCM work which includes getting specific 4 cam modular engines to run on 2 cam PCM's although he still has some AC bugs to work out.
After the first of the year I started turning my shop over to him including the Brown and Sharpe Bench Center system so he could start making his own tubular suspensions and frames. I'm in Michigan now because he was here to pick up the last of the shop including my Coyote project truck. I'm not going to get to finish it and he has some good ideas\plans for it and can do a lot with the project.
Sometime later this week I will be offline again and heading out. First back to Kentucky and then with nothing set in stone I think I'm headed for the Carlsbad area of New Mexico to find someplace to settle down and this pretty much sums it all up.
