KO2's are the best tire I've ever owned.

A guy at work bought a brand new Taco recently. He put a brand new set of KO2's on it, and the dealer couldn't balance them correctly. Then he took it to Discount several times, and they tried everything... including bead balancing them. Nothing worked. He had about 1500 miles on the tires, and he called BFG about it. In about 15 minutes on the phone, BFG had a brand new set of 4 on the way to the Discount Tire. No questions asked, just complete customer service.

I had the set of KO2's on my Explorer, and I loved them. They had 50,000 miles on them when I sold it, and the guy was so excited that they still had a lot of tread left, LOL.

More than 10k on my Dick Cepek EXPs. They are a little louder than when new, but the tread still looks really good. I'll take some measurements tomorrow and see where I stand. Haven't been stuck yet and I have put them through some stuff.

Ohio, ironically, there is a guy with a 94 Cobra in our local Mustang group that is also experiencing the gas smell. Just posted that in the group today.

Tires:
I have the KO2's now, and they're down to 6/32 after only 30K miles. Our roads aren't very kind here though, as some idio.... people drive with studded tires way too long past winter. It's amazing how noisy the "groove" is in each lane. Moving over two feet either direction results in a drastic noise reduction.

I can't find a solid side by side test for comparison. Just reviews and forum posts where the "Duratracs are great!" Then "Duratracs are the worst tire I've ever run!" "The DT's are really quiet." "The DT's are really noisy." Then the same disparate opinions fur the KO2's. I've seen people say they get 60K out of a set of the BFG's, then others saying 30K.

I'm going to do something this weekend, as Discount Tire is having a Labor Day promotion. FWIW, I can get the DT's for $185 more than the KO2's. I k ow what I'm getting with the BFG's, but don't want to miss out if the Goodyears are as good or better for my purposes and will last longer.

Fuel Smell
White, if he still has his original fuel lines, it could actually be the lines themselves allowing fuel to migrate through the material. There's a huge thread in the 94/95 section on this problem, and the parts needed to replace them with braided line and -AN fittings.

So I took a few measurements this morning. When they were new tread depth was .57" and after 11470 miles i am at an even .5".

Honestly I didnt know they were wearing so well. If they keep wearing at this rate I'll get over 65k miles out them before the last tenth of an inch of tread. Not bad for $800 mounted and balanced.

Ohio, fwiw, I had DT's on a Durango when I was in Montana for an internship with the BIA. They were a little louder but not enough to really notice or care. I remember thinking they had noticeable wear before summer was out but they always found traction. If I had the extra funds they would be on my truck.

Lack of vehicle maintenance could have been why they were quickly. They made us get oil changes but never rotated the tires. It was odd considering we would put more than 1k miles a week on them.

I've got 58-60,000 on my kelly safari tsrs and I'm at 4/32 and 5/32. Just haven't been thrilled with traction in wet conditions
