Tailgates interchangable?

I had a friend tell me he had seen a 97-03 f150 that had the new 2010-2011 tailgate on the back.
Is this possible without seriously modding the tailgate?

Yes if it is a 2010 superduty tailgate.

Any tailgate from a99-current F250 will fit.

so a tailgate from a super duty can fit on any model f150? or just 97-03?

I also don't think it works with the styleside beds, only the straight beds...
