I haven't had much luck finding the "band clamp" repair for this particular truck.

Are you referring to the TSB ?

The second picture diagram from the top ("for all car lines") was used in the F150 TSB. This is just the first one that came up in google.

Yea, the heat shields on my truck look nothing like that, there isn't really anywhere for me to put band clamps.

It isn't the heat shields anyways. I took them off and the noise persists. It sounds like it is coming from the starter. I couldn't find anything loose on the starter or feel anything moving while it was squealing.

Yea, I know. I know exactly what your heat shields look like. What are you brain dead ?

Can lead a horse (horses ***) to water...NM kid.

Pull your starter and test it. Only a couple bolts. Some auto parts will do it. You can do it yourself with your battery and some jumper cables. Just be careful. You can search youtube on how to do it. If you haven't tried this already.

No, I am not brain dead, I just don't like doing half *** repairs (Even though it is a TSB.) Putting clamps around that oddly shaped cat would not look good in my opinion and it doesn't matter anyways as I removed the heat shield to check for the noise and the noise still occurred. So obviously putting clamps around it would not have changed a thing.

So yes, you led me to water and I decided to drink coffee instead. Big deal.

Thanks for the help, heat shields are not the answer.

No, I can definitely pull the starter.

I will do that when I get a chance just to inspect it, but I don't think the starter is the issue here. This noise does not happen during start up, but right after.

I'll check at any rate and see if there is something going on...

I fear that this is an internal issue.

You claim your not half ***, so you rip them off instead. Yes, you out smarted the TSB. That's for sure lol.

I know when my starter was acting up, it was only after it was hot. It sometimes made a squel but not constant. I mean its worth the try. Hope you figure it out.

Maybe it would be more beneficial for you to have the whole story.

I took them off to verify if they were making the noise or not. The best way to do that is to remove them, obviously if the noise is still there it's impossible for it to be the heat shields. Once I verified that it was not the heat shields making the noise I reinstalled them, which is very easy considering they are just pressed in place.

Is that better for you man?
