Default Spark plug help

232008 miles on her

The motor

Closer look at sparkplug location

The old sparkplug, its an autolight plug so not orginal plug, came out of the from right plug, had to put her back in due to the back four issue

New plugs that will be put in.

My motor

The front of my truck

My truck in general
I've got a 97 f150 Lariet 5.4l V8 its not the triton motor. I'm trying to figure out the best way to change the back 4 plugs, it is the snub nose to where the back four are pushed back into the dashboard due to it being snubed nose

I recommend Motorcraft plugs for these trucks.

Return the auto lites and buy motorcraft or ngk's. Anything else and you're asking for trouble. These trucks do not like cheap plugs

I don't think that people saw your question. You have way too much stuff that doesn't matter in your post. Good luck.

Actually I am sure everyone DID see it. And like they said, go back and buy Motorcrafts. Autolites are not as good.

To get those plugs, you need and assortment of extensions. I also use spark plug sockets. I use one with a rubber insert to remove the plug. Then to install, I start the plug with a long piece of 3/8 fuel line attached to the plug. This is as close as you can get to starting it by hand, using no leverage (which can result in crossed threads).

Seriously... get the Motorcraft plugs.

What in the world ? What are you talking about, back 4? Snub nose? Plugs in the dash board ? Quite strange and all those pics. I realize some see things differently, but this is like different planet stuff.

Regardless, it's a little more difficult then your lawnmower, just not THAT dramatic lol. Alright, to get the same point that pretty much everyone else has, DO NOT use Autolite plugs, not sure how you got away with it in a 97/98 5four especially. Use Motorcraft replacements IF you don't want to do it twice. Others, including myself (way back when) had to do it twice. I got about 40 miles out of a set back in 01/02 ? Many others have since. They aren't THAT bad to change, but jeeezz man, take some parts off first...so you can get to them lol.

Good Luck!

Plugs ain't hard with the right length extensions.

You may have to pop the fuel rail on the driver side for some.

i just bit the bullet and took mine in to the shop and payed $$$. It was too much trouble. While everything was off and out of the way, i had them change the coil packs too.
Also, I'll just repeat what others have said, - get the motercraft plugs.
