Default fuel filter help!!!

Spent 4 hours tonight trying to change the fuel filter after i put in a new fuel pump.
4 hours on the front fuel filter line disconnect!!!!!! the special tool fits on and pushes the line like it should. but the line goes back about a 1/4 inch then stops again. even with a 2 foot pry bar it wont come off. i can slide it back up to lock and do it all over again same results. so im done for tonight and connect it back up with old filter. now when i start the truck it sprays fuel all over out that disconnect fitting. please help me for what i should do next. truck only has 70000 miles and im about to put a bomb in it!

sounds like your not disengaging it all the way. Which tool did you get. A 2 foot pry bar definitely didn't help I can 100% guarantee you that.

This is what you need:
Amazon.com: Performance Tool W83114 Scissor Fuel Line Disconnect Tool: Automotive Amazon.com: Performance Tool W83114 Scissor Fuel Line Disconnect Tool: Automotive

They should have them at any auto parts store. And make sure you get all of the dirt out of the fitting. thats the only issue that I had when I did mine. Once it was cleaned out, it popped right off.

I had a hell of a time getting mine apart as well. I purchased one of the Lisle scissor type tools, and I couldn't get it to work on the outlet. To get it to release, I had to get my el-cheapo plastic release tools I bought at Autozone years ago then push it in with pliers.

truck is 98 4.6 engine 4x4 short box extended cab. i have blew the fitting out with air and wd-40. i have the lisle brand set of disconnect tools. the white plastic ones. the rear side line pops right off no problem. the front one pops past the ridge on the filter fine but hangs up on the end. wondering now since it sprays fuel all over if i need a new line and cut this one off. Where can i get the new line? guessing it goes from the filter up to fuel rail? looked a little online and cant find one for sale.

Sounds like one or some of the little metal fingers are bent preventing the unlock and removal.. I had to just rip one apart and replace the metal fingers. they sell them at your local auto parts store.
