I can get them for 125 on Wednesday's (seriously). You can usually tell if a 4R70W is any good by pulling the pan. They'll tell you by the smell, and sediments in the pan how fresh they are. Having a 2000, you'll need a 98 or newer trans.

If you see one of these plugs laying in the pan, back way away from it because that means the thing hasn't ever been serviced.

I'm looking at one from an 01 f150 next week actually. The guy only wants 100 bucks for it. Says it slips and first gear is going out. I don't really care If it works or not lol I'm gonna rebuild it and hopefully put it in a new truck. Should I keep the stall convertor stock? The truck I want has a built 5.4 and is making more power than stock but I know the trans is gonna go eventually cause it has over 200k on it. I think It's got 3.55 gears and 295/70/17s.

They both are 4R70's? There's a small chance the 4R100 could be involved here.

I know the trans I'm looking at is a 4r70 and I'm 95% sure the truck has a 4r70 but I'll double check on that one. Thank you I didn't think of that

The chances are small, but I've seen it before.

Yeah it's got a 4r70. I'm not sure how much power it's putting out but I know it's definitely above 300. Maybe even closer to 350. Not sure yet, that's at the crank of course. Would a different stall convertor or torque converter not do much for me?

Any idea what the torque is? I suspect the original converter stall would do fine.

I personally don't like changing the stall on a 4wd truck much because they tow and go off road.

Not sure on the torque. Maybe around 380? I'll get more solid numbers soon, it's never be on the dyno tho. That's what I was thinking too about the stall, but I wasn't sure. I'll post more engine specs when I get the sellers approval I don't know if he wants it out there yet that I could be burying it

That's usually a good sign if someone isn't sure about selling their truck. That's what happened with mine. The guy was a K9 cop that was retiring so he was buying a Powerstroke to pull a 5th wheel. He loved my truck so much that he had his brother-in-law sell it for him. He took immaculate care of it, and I feel very fortunate I got it. Best damn truck ever, LOL.

I don't know if this would be cost effective for you or not, but these guys build awesome converters. They are here locally, and my Buddy buys from these guys.
