Engine Builders talk.
I have a nasty squeak, you'd think by looking at the picture you'd thought this was the culprit..nope. I know it's not the belt but it's hard to pinpoint the right bearing. It's not the belt, it's a bearing squeak not a squeal. I may change the little idler next. So at least she got a new part? Yes @charliedyal it's Motorcraft
Ford has it, -always change the tensioner when changing the belt (same time). The whole deal, - chuck the old. Although the idler or idlers (if you run two) aren't recommended or deemed to be as necessary/important, I would change those at the same time as well. Ford uses mediocre bearings, -for the most part, = good enough, -you can do better tho. Just throwing that out there.
Just a little wobble, very little is perfect! A tight bearing will heat up a little more, shortening the life of.
The WP's will go for quite a awhile on these engines, IF you maintenance the coolant every 2 or 3 years. The electrolosis factor also plays a large role with that. To much of that will eat the wp prop right up, - it can like disapearer lol.
Should be rather easy to find using the stethoscope method, - it's always worked for me as far as pulleys....pinpointing the noisy one anyway. A long screw driver does the trick. Just be careful when doing so lol.

It will be a long project. I'll some pictures once I pick the car up. It rough. I'm going to blow it apart and repaint it. While in the paint and body work the engine bay will be smoothed along with converting from a GT back to a LX. I knew someone would approve.
Get well soon.
You bet it is. - What plague ? That is all lol..oh is it? What's the matter with you ? Really what's your fricken problem today? Everything I mentioned stands..So if you think Diesels can't have a degree of electrolysis your off your rocker. What are you going to say next, - you never have to change the coolant in a 6.0?
Get well soon.
Get well soon.
Never said that. The amount of electrolysis thats in a diesel is a fraction of what a gasoline engine see's. I've made them my living for the past 11 years. There are other issues with a PSD that really forces you to change the coolant more often.
