Not exactly sure on the cranks, I do believe 97-98 f150's Lightnings and harleys and Navigators are forged... I Think expeditions did to and maybe 03-04 f150s but not 100% on that last sentence. If you dissasemble your and it's 8bolt then it's forged... L & HD pistons are forged and will hold 550-600hp Personally if you have PI heads just send yours off to get ported and polished, throw some cams in it and call it a day. Of corse bolt ons like E-Fans, Long tubes and such. You really don't need any upgraded springs or valves until you start pushing boost, and not 8lbs, more like 14+lbs... I can see you getting 300-400hp pretty easy, but above that it's gonna start getting really hard N/A, until you go forced induction to wake it up. I myself would go with a L/HD setup (roots style) over cintrifigul S/C. It would be more reliable and more punch for a 4x4, vortechs or prochargers are more like turbo's and shine in the higher RPM's

Thanks man, but.... lol
It only looked like it was a hoss honestly... It didn't have enough motor or gears. Even though I thought I built it right, when I put it in water/mud up to half my door on the 49's it prooved me wrong.

*Dana 60 front and rear. Front was open and the rear had a spool
*5.38 gears front and rear, rear was built chromos both sides, front only had 35spine outers
*4.6, E-fans, cold air intake, and ported from the heads up

Don't get me wrong, I could white smoke the 49's up past 100mph on the pavement, but not when you put it in some deep stuff, it wouldn't creep over 1,700rpms thats when I got down and washed my hands of it and put it out on the land. I knew then it would need a rebuild to make me happy.

A few weight savers...
I through this up on the Harley to get an idea of what it'll look like in Cant Quit, but it's one of the many things to drop weight from factory stuff, grant aluminum steering wheel, with ford button, and billet column.

I took the backing plate the glove box, in doing so I had to figure out a different hinge to make it work

Since I took it off, I needed to space it out were I took the plate off, so I used my nylon washers I replaced on my fuel cell

Since I took it off, I had to come up with a different hinge after thinking of several different things, I finally came up with using an old radiator hose lol

I ended up using about an 8"x2" piece and riveted it on

And all closed up, I think it looks pretty good

Yeah man, if you or anyone for that matter has any questions, just ask... I've got way to much info on these trucks, not to help others.

More weight reduction, I came across a good deal on a Street Scene roll pan that a fellow Lightning brother swapped for a new one. He hit a stick and puntured it. Whenever I got it I cut it up, to take a few inches out of each side to make it shorter.

You can see here I repaired the boo boo

Here I've put it back together. The reason for taking 2" out of both sides was to get a little dove tail action going. Guys this means, the rear of my beds going to be 4" narrower than what it was from factory. Whenever my rear starts flexing, it will keep the tires out of the fenders that much more. Plus whenever I go rear steer it will really help.

For when I'm not trail riding and I've entered it into some comps I'll throw these light weight lights in. I bought these a long time ago and after having them on the truck for awhile I ended up not likeing them. I painted them black since I'm not going to have any light going through them.

as you can see what it did look like, I guted everything out of them to make them weight as little as possible, heres the back side, I left the mounting brackets

I've tried college actually 4 of them from '02-'06 LMAO

People say I have a.d.d. but truly, OH look a chicken.

I'll finish it up just need a chick/wifey to keep my mind to the grindstone. Plus I'm geeting a house this year and the truck hobbys going to slow down. I have to many credits to not finish

I cleaned up the surrounds and took off the glass and flip out, shed a few pounds, heres me cutting out the Lexan for the ex-cab windows

this is riveted in, but I'm going to leave the covers on until I actually have them mounted. Don't want to scratch them up.

I had some transfercase questions so I figured I'd throw up some pics

Heres the transfercase I'll be using in my build. Its a divorced ford NP205, I'm pointing at the input yoke that my 2wd 4r100 will go to. I'll have a total of 3 driveshafts, unlike the normal married unit.

Tearing it down

Case stripped and cleaned up, not to shabby for a '76 ford lol

Rear shaft gears

put together

Put in the case

Idler shaft

Together in the case, didn't get one together out of the case, this one was a itch to get in... rember to use a piece of cardboard to install this on if the time ever arises you need to work on one.

Thats where I stopped, for the time being, I still need to clean some parts up, good comparison pic. 1310, 1350, and 1410's I bought all 1410 yokes to keep down on twisting the ears off.

Heres a pic of my shift rails. I ground down the shaft, so I can do some front wheel diggs. I can run in front wheel drive Low, High or rear only, Low high, just all kind of options. Makes it where I can shift my axles independantly

My shifter ***** for the twin stick
