Default Window/Electric Issue

I just recently bought a used 2005 F150 5.4 3V 4x4 crew cab truck. Driver side back door window wouldn't go down. I checked for power and the motor was/is getting power but still won't go down but you could see the motor jump if you were to try and go up si I just assumed the tract was bad. Installed a new truck with motor and I get the same thing. Will go up but will not go down. I tried the switch from the other door and nothing changed so I used jumper wires and made the switch button up for down and down for up and it worked. Window rolled right down smooth and easy but then wouldn't go back up.All the other windows and locks work fine. Any ideas, is this a common issue?

Thanks

The most common cause of this behavior is broken wire in the door jamb either of the door you're working on, or the driver's door since it gets used the most.

What wire would I be looking for because I have power to the window motor?

Going into the switch should be 3 wires:
grey / orange stripe
yellow/ blue stripe
I believe they should both have power.

The third wire is yellow/ green stripe which I believe is the ground and it can be interrupted by the window lock switch.

There's a nice pdf of the wiring diagram. Section 100 is the power windows.

Welcome to my thread with the same issue that I've been struggling to find the cause and fix.

Fixed so many that is where I start
Inside the boot going to the drivers door
You are liable to have a few broken wires in there

Well I pulled all the wires apart on the drivers door inside the rubber boot and tested, tugged, etc and nothing. So I put everything back together and was gonna give up BUT then decided to pull the back door apart and BINGO! Everything looked good until I started tugging and I actually found 4 total wires that were broke. Cut them open, re-spliced and now everything is working again! Thank you again for the help and diagrams. Now I have a lean issue to look at but I'll start another thread for that after I check a few things again.

Glad to hear that you were able to fix it.

Was there any clue as to why the four wires were broke? Would other trucks possibly have same issue?

Nice work getting it fixed. And thanks for following up with the conclusion, that really helps others in the future.
