Default Hey guys

Alright first of all, I appreciate all the responses. I apologize ahead of time from not being too knowledgable on a lot of the info you guys are throwing around. I'm pretty much familiar with how to keep my truck running nice, and clean, I'm no mechanic.. So from what I've gathered the majority of you would recommend I go with the Gotts mod and something like an AEM dry replacement filter, as opposed to an K&N or Airraid CAI. What about lift kits, have you all heard ok things about Rough Country?, and otto457 could you elaborate on what you mean by gears instead of power adders? Again many thanks gentleman, and JamesSaltMan I have some further questions about the programmers you mentioned, I'll pm you if you don't mind.

Otto457 was talking about re gearing your front and rear axles if you are going to increase your tire size. I'm about to re gear my truck when I get the money because right now I have 3.73 gear ratio in my axles and 35" tires so I'm going to change my gears to a 4.56 gear ratio so the motor doesn't have to work near as hard to turn my tires and it will increase get up and go!

When the MAF environment is changed like with a CAI, there becomes a constant battle between the info it's providing and what the front O2s are reading. On the dyno, some PCM calibrations from the factory run close to lean at WOT. Combine with the MAF not knowing its environment, and we've seen short times of 19:1 a/f with no lean codes thrown.

I'm making the assumption you'll be running larger tires. If you are, gears are the best way to get the driveline back to a stock ratio. When the mass and diameter of the wheels are changed, it puts more strain on the system and the diameter changes the overall ratio. This will make it feel like lost power. To counter that, gears are changed to get back to a more stock or beyond ratio. Less transmission strain and better driving feel with gears and larger tires.

Only if you get a CAI would you really need to worry about it. If you're doing the Gotts, it doesn't change the MAF and you have no worries. So you don't need to worry, if you ever wanted to check a/f, look into a wideband a/f meter.

I bought my truck with an airaid CAI already on it.

Airaid is actually one of the better ones for MAF environment. That would be one of the only CAIs I wouldn't worry about.
