Default Reunited!: Guidance on Modifications

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but from everything I've read you guys can be incredibly helpful so here it goes. I'm coming off a 4 year enlistment In Marine infantry haven't seen my truck in two years but Ive got some cash saved up and I'm ready to turn this machine around. Everything is stock as of now, but I'm wanting to lift it 4-6 inches, as of now I'm leaning towards rough country.. Also want to put a new exhaust on it, as well as install a new cold air filter. I was hoping for some recommendations in these areas, as well as other modification recommendations I may have overlooked. Specs for my vehicle, are as follows: 2005 f150xlt 4x4 quad cab. V8 5.4. Helps greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance gentlemen.

Exhaust, read the link in my signature and adjust to what you want. Cold air intakes can cause a dangerous lean condition on your 05. Better to search for the Gotts mod and a dry replacement filter like an AEM. I'm assuming with the lift you'll be running larger tires, look into gears instead of power adders to start with.

Shouldn't the computer compensate for the added air when the o2 sensors detect more oxygen in the exhaust and add more fuel to the cylinders? I'm in auto tech college right now and that's what we've been going over.

Get a edge evolution or gryphon programmer (same thing different color) and once you do all the mods you want you order custom programs for your truck from power hungry performance and everything will be dialed in together and it'll run great! I would also suggest efans and/or an underdrive pulley kit, I'm in the process of getting mine now.

Not if the added air exceeds the amount the ECU is able to compensate for.

You think it will add that much air? I've got an airaid intake and straight pipes after cats. Ill have to bring this subject up in class Monday. Plus I bought my truck with the intake on it so I didn't have a choice haha.

Flow isn't the only variable the ECU takes into account in adjusting injector pulse duration. You have intake air temperature which relates to density. The ECU's stock factory program is assuming a stock setup. As mentioned, you need a programer to fully take advantage of your physical engine modifications.
