To turn my torrision bars or not?
I have been thinking of turning my torrision bars atleast enough to level the front of my 05 f150 out. I know a few people who have done it and haven't had any issues just want to know if its a good idea or not. I priced having a leveling kit at local shops around my area and the cheapest with install is right at $300. If I do it and get a front end alignment I should be good to go? Iam just trying get some info and opinions before I do it thanks

If your truck is a 2005, it doesn't have torsion bars, it has coil-overs. If that's the case, a leveling kit is about $50-$120 depending on size and where you buy it. They're easy to install yourself, but most shops will charge $100 to install plus $50 for an alignment, so $300 doesn't seem bad if it includes the kit, install and alignment

Well that is good to know and that does answer my question. Guess a
Leveling kit it will be. What size leveling kit should I go with? 3" seems like
Overkill 1.5" seems like it wouldn't do much, maybe a 2"? Thanks again

Everyone's suspension is a little different. If your truck is a 4x4 a 3" is too big, you'll over-stress your CV's. You're right though, you'll hardly notice a 1.5". You want to park somewhere flat, and measure from the center of your hub to the top of your fender in the front and the rear to determine how much higher the back is from the front. On my 2006 I went with a 2" and it sits perfectly level, the back might be a 1/4" higher.. with a 2.5 you MIGHT need to do an add-leaf or 1" block in the rear to make it level or if you want to maintain the factory rake. Most guys with a 2.5" made theirs perfectly level though, just measure before you buy.

Thanks for all the help ill either be going with the 2" to 2.5". Are they pretty easy to install. From what I've researched they just sit on top of the struts then bolt them back up? Iam sure I may Alittle off on that and definitely make it sound easier than it will be. Also should I immediately get an alignment or wait a few days a buddy said wait atleast a week to give the front end time to settle

You can do your tires and steering a favor and get it done as soon as you install the spacers. You aren't altering your springs at all. They have years and thousands of miles on them, they've settled all they're going to settle by now

I got a 3" on my 4x4 for awhile now, been offroading quite a few times and no problems. But if you're someone that worries a lot, just stick with the 2.5" and you'll be level on a 05. But they are pretty straight forward. The first side with 2 guys may take lil over an hour if you're doing it your first time, second side will literally take like 30 mins if that. Lol
