Wow, it really does seem pretty simple, thanks for the instructions stuckzipper, guess I'm going to have to take on this project one weekend.

Anybody have luck with projectors in the 04-08 round fog lights yet?

Since you've had those housings apart recently maybe you can answer this. How hard would it be to separate the clear section from the visible front section? I'm asking because I want to paint mine more of a glossy black to match it to my truck better.

There are only two little screws holding that on. No adhesive, no glue... Just take the screws out and it comes off.

My next project is a 2007 F-150 and he wants the inside to look like carbon fiber... I thought that sounded pretty damn cool imo. So... I got some CF wrap (the cheap-o sticky film that you could use on trim moldings) and we will be giving that a go this weekend. I imagine it would look obviously fake, but I'm going to hit it with a quick blast of clear coat to give it that authentic sheen. We will have to see how that looks.

Yes I have Mini H1 projectors in my fogs to complement the FXR projectors in my headlights (rectangular fogs, not round). Its a much more labor intensive install that involves a decent bit of cutting with a dremel. However, results and performance are second to none. I'll try to get some pics up tonight.

The round fog housings are too small for any projectors on the market right now. TRS is coming out with a much smaller version soon though that will fit no problem.

im very displeased with my mini h1's and heres why.

1. the 6k bulbs look nothing like my 6k switchbacks

2. one of the projector lenses has fine scratches all over it. (NOT value either)

3. one cut off line absolutely sucks, plus one has a blue color flicker while the other has a yellow one.

4. the h13 adapter plates are useless

5. they made my high beams quit working some how or another.

I wonder if something went wrong in the install?
1. You can't compare an arc to an LED. The light from HID is not the same nor is it even comparable to light from an LED.

2. Call TRS and tell them. I have had 4 sets of mini's and NONE had scratches or marks of ANY kind.

3. The cut off is off because the bulb is not set in there right. The ONLY thing affecting the cutoff is the bulb. The bulb isn't installed correctly.

4. The H13 adapters are useful if you use them correctly. The do not twist in. they sit in the notches and nothing more, they are more for alignment than anything.

5. Are you using H1 bulbs? The high beam function is done with the projector and not the bulb. If the Hi beam isn't working check your wiring, and make sure everything is correct.

Don't immediately jump to the "this product is crap" conclusion until you have checked your install. All of the things you have described are easily explained by incorrect installation. Double check, and let us know.

Mine look amazing, with a clean deep blue/purple cutoff and incredible performance. Honestly, send me some pictures and I will do what I can to explain anything I see wrong.

I have seen many installs and pictures of the mini on HIDPLANET and everything I've seen looks great. I would agree with the above and say check your work. Also, I would go with 4300k bulbs for better white light.

Your bulbs are not seated properly. You should have hotspots right at the "steps" in the cutoff with intense light across the cutoff line.

Which ballasts are you using? The cheapo ebay/DDM ballasts will often cause light flickering.

Your high beams must not be wired properly. The high beam from these projectors is about 100 times better than the PnP crapola.

For brightness, you loss around 900 lumens per bulb when using 6000k. Thats 1800 lumens combined, a ton of light. step down to 5000k or 4300k for more output. Also make sure you let the bulbs heat up before judging their color. They are bluer when first ignited but will tame off to a whiter color after about 30 seconds. My 5000k match the 5k LEDs in my parking lamps very well.

As for the projectors, call TRS and post us a picture. I ordered the "value" projectors and one had a microscopic mark that took me 5 minutes to find at point blank, and the other one I couldn't even find the blemish.
