Preparing to do Timing
Make sure your list the rtv on the metal engine joints on timing cover, oil pan cover ,valve covers it must be fresh within minutes of assembly . Also the key-way on timing cover You should see or feel the metal joints with your finger nail .
I suggest lists as its easy to forget steps and a redo can be pain full...I break it down in easy to do sections . Take pics on assembly . But i find drawings that I made are easier to see ,pics are a reference in case you doubt yourself .

Yeah, that's plenty good. Make sure that you dig out all of the old stuff that's in there.
They say within a few minutes but the Permatex Ultra Black stuff doesn't start to set up all that fast so you have more working time than that. Don't need to be rushing like crazy to get things bolted down. Just don't want to be taking forever, walking away and let it harden up, pull it back off/on, etc.

As another option I only use ScotchBrite on aluminum surfaces. Sand paper can and will scratch the machine aluminum surface and weeps can develop. The scotchbrite gets it mirror smooth with little elbow grease but won’t scratch the surfaces. Removes old silicone better than a gasket scraper. Works on steel too.
In two weeks, I plan on doing the timing on my truck. To make me feel better about reconnecting everything, I'm going to label everything. If I missed something, just let me know:
MAF Sensor
Throttle position sensor
Throttle
Injectors 1-4 Left side
Injectors 1-4 Right side
Coils 1-4 Left side
Coils 1-4 Right side
Fuel Pressure Sensor
VCT Left and Right
Cam Position Sensor Left and Right
Crank Position Sensor
Oil Pressure switch
Left and right filter capacitor (this just gets its screw loosened from the timing cover)
Coolant temperature sensor (might not need to disconnect this)
Freon low pressure sensor
Freon high pressure sensor
Steering pressure sensor
Vapor purge valve
Master cylinder
(this is 33 items)

I'm going to try this on a POS I bought for $700 but I plan to go to the dollar store and get baggies and label everything as I remove them. Then keep them in order in a box off to the side. There's a LOT on your list that you don't actually have to remove to do the timing job.
Here's the vid:
@Muskoka_Mike I found that labelling isn't really necessary, I originally did it because I was worried about plugging things into the wrong part. You would have to really screw up to plug things in wrong. Wiring is just the right length for each thing.
You also assume I didn't watch any of his videos. I watched the entire four part series before, and while I was doing the job to make sure I did it correctly.
