Just plug it in and you're ready to go it's that simple, if you disconnect your battery the PCM won't have any power to run and your tuner relys on power from the battery as well. The tuner has to be powered on to read the codes from the PCM, which also relys on the battery for power to run.

You can unplug the tuner anytime. Whenever you disconnect the battery for anything always unplug your tuner. When plugging it back in, turn your truck to the on position but not so the engine is on, just all the electric stuff. Then plug in your tuner an let it load then you can turn the truck completely on.

When you are changing the tune on the truck, select the tune you want and it will tell you to turn the truck completely off then I will say turn truck to on position, again not so the engine is on. Let the tune load and write the PCM code and then after that is done you can go ahead and turn the truck on.

Once it's all set up from the programmer just start the truck as you would any other time. There's no such thing as a dumb question (well there is but that's not the point), we were all there once - myself just last month before I got mine. Prior to ordering it I knew nothing about programmers, tuners, tunes or anything but I got on the forum asked questions and researched everything I could across the internet until I found the one that best suited my needs. I'm glad I took the time to research everything and ask questions (about 4 months) as opposed to impulse buying, because I've talked to plenty of people that aren't satisfied with their investments!

If you can set it just set it to what gears you have and set the tire size to what you have. I wouldn't mess with any of the timing or anything like that.

Just read read read, I downloaded and read the user manual for mine before I ordered it (when i came to the decision of it over the others) just to make sure that was the one I wanted to suit the needs for my application.
