Default ipod input jack on Dash

I have a 2006 FX4 and was wondering if they are pre-wired for the input jack located on the top of the dash, I went to the salvage yard and got the center panel that has the input but need to know how to wire it to the radio. On my radio I have a auxbutton on the radio face. Has anyone done this mod to ad the input jack?

If the input jack has RCA connectors on the other end of it you should be able to use an auxiliary converter like on from PIE.

That's what I did, I ordered a PIE auxiliary converter. It plugs into the factory 16-pin plug in the back of your radio and has a ground and a power. Pretty simple install and for around $80 its crystal clear sound

Same here...I have a PAC converter (instead of PIE because I had a bad experience with their products in the past) but it's basically the same thing. Works great.

I wanted to use the stock set up, I have access to all the parts. The only issue I've ran in to is the wiring, it's ran in to the main under dash wiring harness but I couldn't follow it all the way to the end point.

I installed the input jack in the picture but from the plug end that goes to the underside of the input jack where does the wiring go to. You would think it would be a direct connection plug to the back of the radio... But hell no, Ford had to make it crazy confusing.

It's not Fords fault ...who ever owned the truck before you didn't opt for the up-graded sound system....

Order the Ford "Trip Tunes" kit from Tascaparts.com.

Cheaper than any alternative.

PN is 6R3Z-19A464-AA, 42.50 plus 10 dollars shipping from TascaParts.com

Yeah, your factory radio probably doesn't have the option for the line in. You're EASIEST bet is to get one of the PIE or PAC auxiliary converters and wire it in. Since you already got the spare tray, you can make practice cuts on the one you don't want to see where you'd like your RCA/iPod wire to come out

Thanks for the lead, the price has gone down to $38. I wish it showed a picture of the product though.
