Frame shop should be able to weld a patch onto the strong metal.
I'll post an update when I address it.
I have a 2007 which I bought used with 160,000 miles on it. There isn't even rust on my exhaust manifold bolts, frame is still black, and truck runs well enough (now has 200,000 miles). What you have there, in any capacity, cannot be considered fine. My frame looks pretty much like it did coming out of the showroom and that is what one would consider "fine". Your truck won't pass an inspection in 99% of shops that perform them honestly.

Based on your insistence on a quick fix for just patching the hole (and ignoring the rust likely everywhere else on the truck), I have to assume you're trying to sell it to someone else.

BTW- leave Jesus Christ out of it, he has nothing to do with you being too stubborn to realize the truth.
My guess is that he bought it cheap because of the rust, thought the engine components looked fine, figured he could patch the single hole (was cell phone sized and now he says its business card sized) and sell for a profit.

Clearly the frame isn't the only thing rusted. Imagine with the control arms, brakes, tie rod ends, front sway bar end links and bushings, exhaust components, and other items look like..

This is not "a little bit of frame rust". Its a whole lot of frame rot.

Not selling it. Bought it to keep. Frame is solid except that one area of about 6 inches. Common repair.
Last week, I had it at the local shop for the steering hose leak and front ball joint,
while it was on the lift, the welding shop guy from next door said he can fix it no problem.
I have not gotten a chance to drop it off yet.
When it's done, I'll post an update.

As an owner of 08 in salt belt, this doesn’t seem normal. I’m curious what state this truck has been in, and, whether it had any type of sprayed on coating on frame / underbody? I’ve heard that the rubberized undercoating can be detrimental and cause rust issues. Just curious if that may have been a contributing factor here?

Can frames be repaired with a weld patch?
Is this a huge deal or not really ?
The hole is the size of a cell phone.
What is the typical cost of this repair
howd it go at the frame shop ?
