Well when the torque converter locks you're still in 4th it just gets your gear ratio locked in so that you aren't spinning and heating up the transmission and you will be getting max fuel economy.

You could put it on +2 or +4 but an unlocked TC can build up a lot of heat and wear a transmission out as fast as a large set of tires, the numbers you posted (+2 and +4) aren't drastic numbers that would wear your tranny out or anything like that but I would keep it at 0 unless it is just driving irregularly or locking/unlocking erratically in that setting.

[QUOTE=BassAckwards;895441]

So I have a 2004 5.4L with 33" tires, MBRP dual exhaust & AFE CAI and used your settings from Page 1 BUT I do have one question on both settings...

I can't find the WOT Shift setting on my CS. I only see the following...

So is WOT Shift the same as this? If so, what would the setting be since it's in MPH and not RPM?

Economy Setting:

Level 2 87 Octane

WOT Shift
1-2 5200 RPM
2-3 5200 RPM
3-4 5000 RPM

Performance Setting

Level 3 91-93 Octane

WOT Shift
1-2 5300 RPM
2-3 5300 RPM
3-4 5000 RPM

Also, what is your Idle RPM set to? Here's a photo of the setting... I tested how high it goes and 300 was max but what does that mean? Is that 300 on top of the stock Idle RPM point?

I have a 5.4 so you'll need to change your rpms to reflect the 4.6's Red Line

2-3 5200 RPM
3-4 5000 RPM

Rev Limiter:

4th Gear Lock -6

WOT Fuel:

Gear Ratio:
3.73:1

I have a 33" tire as well.

Here is my Performance Setting

The 87 tow tune you have works great for mpg. I do a lot of cruising in back roads everyday for work, and I'm getting 17 mpg pretty easily. I cruise around 40 mph and am able to keep my Rpm's in the 1100 range. Just today when I pulled in its saying 17.5 mpg on both the truck and the programmer. Still gonna hand calculate it to see of its right though

Sorry I didn't see your question until just now.

Unfortunately those shift points are not the same as WOT Shift. IDK why your CS doesn't have the Wide Open Throttle Shift adjustment.

And as far as Idle RPM, I do not adjust it. You are correct however that the adjustment of 300 would be your stock Idle RPM + 300

Glad it's working out for you!

Hmmm I haven't heard that but shift firmness can definitely be bad if you go to positive or to negative.
