Idk if this forum is dead yet but I have a question. I am going to be purchasing an edge evo for my 03 f150. It's the 5.4 if it matters. I will also be adding a cold air intake and exhaust so should I change around the timing a bit on the 2nd tune to account for more air flow. The tow tune. I am going to bump up the shift firmness to about 16 because I like the hard shifts that throw you back. And where would be a good place to set the shift points like what rpm's?

Those shifts that bump you back. Do they hurt the transmission? Cause I get them at times as well and I'm like dang, sorry truck lol

I don't believe it hurts it. If I am correct it actually makes the transmission last longer with firmer shifts because it is not lagging in between gears it's just like a straight shot no waiting. But I may be incorrect. I still wanted to know if changing the timing would make up for more air draw with a cai.

Softer shift cause more slippage thus more wear on the transmission. Harder shifts are OK up to a certain point.

here is what I have for what its worth:
2008 F150 FX4
4.88 Gears
37x13.50 Toyo
20in Rims
Set to 2 Towing:
WOT Shift
1-2 5200
2-3 5200
3-4 5200
REV Limit
5400
Conv Lock Points
3rd Gear Lock -2
4th Gear Lock -4
WOT Fuel
1.6
Shift Firmness
1-2 16
2-3 16
3-4 16
Timing
1.2 (I always use 93 octane)
Speed Limiter
200 (who cares)
Again...this works for me with the mods I have on my truck. I always work with the settings and this works very well.

takes a bit of understanding about torque lock and unlock does and why you may want to adjust them. Bottom line: Dont, your good without it for the most part unless you have a locker that I can see. Ive researched this a bit. Hope this link can help a bit, if not, let me know so I can shoot you where i learned about it. Try this first:

Will bumping the timing up .5 account for the more air draw with a cai? And will adding an exhaust make a need for any of the settings on the evo to be changed?
