That is a 3156 sized bulb vs. the 921 bulb size that he ordered.

The 3156 is a larger bulb size, which is offered in XP80 (510 lumens / measured)

Thank you,
Nick C.

This might be a dumb question, but would the 3156 fit a 2012 F-150? (I know it's a long shot, but I just really want the xp80).

The 09-14 use a 921 bulb size, so it's not going to fit a 3156 without significant modifications to the socket and housing (not recommended)

Yeah I knew it's a 921, but I was just wistfully thinking the xp80 might somehow fit.

It would fit, if you replace the socket, drill holes and make a 3156 bulb fit. Definitely not worth the time or effort just to run a larger bulb.

Yeah exactly. I'd more likely install flush mount bumper lights before doing that. LOL.

I'm really hoping the xp50 is bright enough that I don't need supplemental bumper lighys, I personally think they're ugly.

410 lumens is essentially like having rear-facing fog lights:

They will produce plenty of output for backing up

Darn it I may have got the bug to find the best for the lowest costs on these rev lights.... Thanks Trigger13

But in the end I will either waste a whole bunch of time I do not have and learn from it or I will find a nice balance of costs vs performance.

Here are the next two runner ups.

1. $30 JDM ASTAR Extremely Bright Max 50W High Power 912 921 T10/T15 LED Backup Reverse LightS,Parking lights, Xenon White Link

2. $20. 2PCS ARTR Pure White T10 T15 192 168 921 194 W5W 50W XB-D CREE LED Bulbs Extremely Bright Great update for DRL Backup Reverse Side Marker Lights Link

Completely agree - Not worth the time or effort.

Yeah, like a neighbor of mine said to me after I got him hooked with upgrading - "This **** is more addictive than crack..."

Not sure if he has any personal experience with the latter, but I'm just going to assume that he's going off what he's heard on TV. It's amazing just how many people that get caught on the upgrade train. I can't even count how many vehicles I've had a hand in making brighter. From VW buses all the way up to trucks like ours and everything in between. The number of people whom have seen spots in their eyes after a demonstration is far greater.
