Any reason not to use these JDM ASTAR GX-320 1000 lumens LED's over the 800 other than $5?

If you're looking to upgrade your factory hids just replace the oem D3S bulbs with a pair of OSRAM CBI's (cool blue intense). They are the brightest D3S bulbs you can buy, and they drop right in and work with your factory ballasts. Don't remove the HID's in lieu of LED's. HID headlights have been around since 1993, and as a result are very reliable long term, led headlights are still too new and questionable.

I bought my CBI's from the retrofit source as a lot of places sell counterfeit bulbs. I have been buying from them for 7 years, and highly recommend it.

I carry the DS3's from Diode Dynamics. I have not heard any complaints about the DS3 from them... for those who are into HID of course. If your truck came with HID form the factory, you'll need to keep HID (unless you plan to do some retrofitting).

I've had people with factory LED and factory HID try and order the LED kits from me, but they don't fit. So stick with the HID bulbs IF your truck came with HID OR you did a retrofit for HID.

TRS has good products as well. I don't have the TRS HID listed on my site though but can sell those at a discount should anybody want them (just PM me)

F150's with HID headlights come with OSRAM 66340HBI bulbs from the factory. Removing them for Diode Dynamics bulbs, or ddm bulbs, or even TRS XB bulbs would be a questionable step backwards. The only reason to replace the factory bulbs in good working condition would be to upgrade them, the only logical route being the D3S CBI bulbs as they're the brightest D3S bulbs you can buy but they're made by a OEM supplier. If OSRAM choses to release the new CBH in a d3s base, then that will be the bulb to buy. But currently the best bulb you can buy for a D3S vehicle is the CBI. There's a reason they're the bulb to have on HIDPlanet.com.

Take a look at these. Made by the same manufacturer and they sell for only $18/pair, and so far they have been the brightest I've ran across yet.

They have 90 SMD LEDs per bulb and are quite impressive. On the subject of lumens, it can be confusing as some listings will overstate or estimate the actual brightness, so I experiment with trial-and-error, comparing side-by-side in person to determine which is the brightest.

Now that you mention it, I do seem to recall that there was a difference in the actual lens fixture itself between trucks that came equipped with HIDs vs. halogens.

My truck came with halogen, so a LED swap was pretty straight-forward, and comparing the LEDs in my truck to the HIDs in my roadster, there's really not a noticeable difference, and the car is nine years old already.

Are LED headlights a Plug & Play change over?

Thanks for the info, I was really wondering if LED would be better with providing a more even coverage, maybe not. I love Xenon's, super super good even coverage, maybe it's the F150 HID housing / bulb used in this regard, compared to my 04 GTS Celica. Which is going up for sale, with 44K Original miles on the clock, but those HID have to warm up before they are super bright.

Anyway, thank you again for the great tip, I hope to get a better light output from the OEM HID projectors already on my truck, seems those same bulbs can be had for allot less here, if they are not counterfeit.

So these are your fav backup lights? Best output, anything must be better than OEM, as OEM are really really bad IMHO, I can't see anything. Thanks again for the help.
