Default Updating sync

So I just recently got to become the lucky owner of a 2009 king ranch f150 with the navigation and sync package. The sync system and the maps have not been updated since it was manufactured january 14, 2009. I don't really have too big an issue with the system and maps, seems perfectly current no missing streets, being out of date besides the fact that I'm hoping a sync update the dealer can do for free will hopefully make it tell my radio my song information over bluetooth. Anyone done this and had good results? Im also worried about that if i update it will change to the new default of not allowing bluetooth to be the start up device for music. Thoughts?

SYNC updates done by the dealer are not free, FYI. They usually charge 0.5 hours labor to do it. You can try to do it yourself through http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...e-updates-sync

Burke, the update is easy to do yourself. jt gave you the web site. If I can do it with my technological disorder anyone can. I picked a day I was going to be driving the truck awhile so it wouldn't have to sit, and idle. It updated in approx. 40 minutes

If you do have a problem, just give the SYNC folks a call. I called for some info, and they were very helpful.

You should be able too do it yourself off the site but I was told the update they did for me was one I couldn't have done myself.

I got my truck used and unfortunately it was an update that required the dealer to do for whatever reason. My truck was out of the bumper to bumper warranty so I had to suck it up and pay. I just had them do it when I got my last oil change done. They charged me 0.5 hours labor.

Hey, Burke484 -

Congrats on the new truck! Which software update are you referring you?

Send me your VIN, and I'll look into this further.

In regards to map updates for your navigation system, those will come from HERE, a third-party supplier:
