Default Is this true....

My ford service guy was telling me that the platinums have extra sound deadening in the cab to drown out noise. Is this true?

I'm starting to believe him because my buddy has a 2010 platinum that is way quieter in the cab (engine wise) than my ecoboost. It also doesn't seem to have the suspension reverb as bad in the back. I'm intrigued by this and at some point I may go drive a new platinum to see if these suspicions are correct. I always wondered why the lariat limited and Harley ended up being cheaper than a top end platinum, maybe the LL and Harley don't have this extra stuff behind the skin?

To me, the 09+ have ALOT of differences. From what i heard, yes they have extra sound deadening, as well as a sound deadening windshield.

Lariat and above trims (so not including FX4) have extra sound deadening in the cab. In addition, the Platinum trim level also has thicker windshield to further deaden sound.

I know I'd like to put some dynamat or something on the underside of the roof for when it's raining. The plink plunk and so on gets a bit old.

If I thought I wouldn't screw up the headliner I'd do it. I'll guess it's probably glued in a number of places. Oh well. Nothing is perfect.

How much of a difference can it make? My 2011 XLT is dead silent. The onlyt ime I ever hear any noise is when accelerating and that's only because I have an intake. But I did get the truck undercoated with rubber so that made a difference in road noise.

That used to bother me when I first got my truck, but now I don't even notice it. Then again, I live in the pacific northwest where it rains 3/4 of the year, so I guess i've just gotten used to it lol
