Put some weatherproof led strips and rocker switch from superbrightleds under the lip of the bed rails. They have magnets built into the strips, but as added protection so they don't slide down I used some 3M outdoor Double sided tape. Every connection has heat shrink buttsplices so no wire will corrode, same thing with the wire taps they are waterproof too. Drilled two small holes on each side under the bed caps which you cant see, and mounted the weatherproof rocker switch in an exsisting hole in the bed. Led strips are 2ft in length and are superbright! Here are some pics of the mod.

Here's the switch

This was the perfect spot for these at almost a 45 degree angle under the bedcaps protected from the weather. I have the 5.5ft bed which 2 light bars per side were just perfect!

Connection made down by the spare tire pulling power from the trailer plug + & - white ground and orange is hot.

But to make those wires hot all the time you need to install the 30 amp maxi fuse that's in the glovebox in a bag along with the trailer brake harness. The fuse goes in the #21 spot up front under the hood. Then You need to jumper the
#9 relay to have power all the time, if you just install the relay it will only send power when the key is on. Just made the jumper with two male spade terminals.

Also notice that at eye level you can't see the lights which I thought was kinda cool!

Hope you enjoy will post some pics later tonight to show how bright they are.

So the Orange is only hot when the key is on, it's for charging a trailer battery (RV Etc). So when you say you jumpered relay 9 are you saying that the Orange wire now has power without the key? Cause if it does that's great for your lights but if you hook a trailer with a battery you may drain your your truck battery when your truck is off if the trailer battery is bad.

Just a precaution.

Otherwise great write up and nice set up!

Thanks! Yeah I know I was gonna say that in the post too haha but I have no trailers with a battery. But if I do I will put the relay in when I get one.

Yours are way brighter than mine. I ran a cable from the main fuse box and switch nine on and off. Going to install a pressure switch this weekend.
