Why not install a Mercury switch inside the tail gate? run the wires to the relay that control the LED's in the bed...this way anytime you open the tailgate...lights are on...and go off when closed

These are used for alarms on the front hood of cars

I hard wired my bed lights and put a rocker switch in that factory hole that everyone else puts it in.

WHATEVER LIGHTS YOU DECIDE TO INSTALL. DO NOT INSTALL THOSE 'COOL BLUE' LED'S!

Worst decision I've ever made, in regards to accessories. That color blue screws with my eye's something awful! I don't know if it's the color or too many light's. Either way they have got to go.
While they might look cool from far away, they mess with your vision. Thankfully they were dirt cheap.

I've had them before summer and haven't had to use them as it stays lighter. I'll take a picture tonight, but now that this thread popped back up. It reminded me to order white light's.

I used a thermasync Defroster controller from Frostfighter http://www.frostfighter.com/thermasy...r-controls.htm

I mounted the button inside on the back corner of the box - hid the relay behind a tail light - push the button to turn on or off - of leave on and it will automatically shut off after 15 minutes - so it will not drain battery if forgotten.

Like mentioned, all winter I had connectivity issues. I also left the lights on by accident and they were on for an unknown time. LED's draw very little power. I wouldn't be worried if it was left on.

I ordered a Partsam kit off of Amazon, waterproof and flexible. Black button switch for the lights, and momentary toggle for the power tonneau. Also ran a wire into the cab for a rocker switch to open the tonneau as well. tonneau and lights ran off of same 12 gauge wire to the battery.

Just thought I would post this for those wanting to use the oem switch for their led bed light install. Here is the part number I ordered and received today.

Can you elaborate, or post a pic of where this switch goes? I have the single interior light control switch (since mine is an stx). But I assume I could get a double switch bezel and thats where this goes?
