This is sure frustrating. After doing a tonne of research before buying this truck and finding all the neat things that can be done with the MFT and Sync just to buy the truck and have nothing work either due to location or some other random crap. Why does this work for some and not others, not cool ford.

 

It has to do with the version of sync + module you have.

My 2012 doesn't work but my mothers explorer does. I don't have MFT but it's hit or miss with that too.
It's a fault of both Apple and Ford, either could work around it but neither probably will.

 

i guess it just annoys me that they advertise it and the sales staff sell these features then they don't work after you buy the truck. I am more than annoyed about the sync not working at all, after getting the great sales pitch about it.

still love the truck though, too bad i cant use it to it's full potential.

 

Have you tried going into the settings on the phone while you're in the truck and paired with Sync? I didn't have the option to show notifications until I was connected.

 

I've tried everything on mine. Pulling the fuse, master resets, everything. I asked the dealer for a new module but they're claiming its an Apple fault "at this time" so I'm going to ask again when I get my oil changed in a few weeks.

I'm in the same boat. IOS 6.1.3, sync 4.1.3 and my phone does not have "show notifications"

 

Not sure if this works, but I do work in software and computers are strange.

1 - On SYNC unpair your phone. (edit)
2 - "Forget" all bluetooth devices.
3 - Restart the iPhone
4 - While you are at it, start the car! lol

See if that works...

 

Yes, I even sat in the truck and re-paired my phone to the truck and still nothing. I dropped the $200 for the new software and navigation updates. If I have the time I'll install them tonight then re-pair the phone again and see if that does it.
I just don't understand how two people with the exact same phone, phone carrier and same software version in the truck and their phones but only one has the texting option? Oh well, may all my problems be so small!

 

I've got Gen1 4.0.2 SYNC and nothing makes it work. I've seen some with Gen1 and my version and it does work. It's frustrating as all hell.
