Hope this helps!

1) Truck - Delete phone from BT device list.
2) Phone - Delete Sync from BT connection list.
3) Phone - Reboot. (Do steps 4 & 5 while you wait for this to finish)
4) Truck - Turn off, pull the key, open the door.
5) Truck - Close the door, restart.
6) Truck/Phone - Pair your phone fresh w/MFT. Let it finish.
7) Phone - Turn BT off.
8) Phone - Turn BT on.
9) Truck - Hit "connect" on the MFT screen to reconnect BT.
10) Phone - Go into the BT Profile Settings screen for Sync (little arrow to the right of Sync, in Settings, Bluetooth)
11) Phone - Set Notifications to "On".
12) Phone - Back up a screen and turn BT off again.
13) Phone - Turn BT back on.
14) Truck - Hit "connect" on the MFT screen again to reconnect to phone.
Jgohlke is my hero! I've fiddled with this thing for weeks. MFT guys try this procedure, worked like a charm for me.

I have a Iphone5, and if bluetooth is connected, I'll hear the notification through the stereo. Maybe you should try re-syncing the phone to the truck.

I give up!!! I spent $200 on a software /nav update and I even tried following your directions to a tee! In fact, I tried your steps a number of times. There is just no way to get a 2012 F150 to send or receive texts through an iPhone 5.

Tried it, no luck. Still no Notification ON/OFF in Bluetooth profile on phone, just contacts.
I do not have MFT just the older Sync found on 2012 trucks.

Same results this seems to work only on 2013's.

I don't have the option to turn on notifications in the Bluetooth section of sync on my VZ iPhone 5. My droid x worked perfectly, but no texts with th iPhone. I think I'll live though.

Message notifications must be ON in the sync phone menu.
MAP Profile must be ON in System setting ADVANCED in sync menu.

Texts must be able to show up in locked screen on iphone.
In the iphone under... Settings/Notication Center/ Messages/ Show in lock screen must be on.
Sync will only notify you when one comes in if iphone screen is locked.

Mine stopped for a few weeks after I turned the show in locked screen setting off. Now it works again after turning that back on.
