Default Interesting Sync->iPhone issue

Ok, so I'm one of the few, the proud, the....suckers that updated to 4.6 on my 4.2" Sync radio.

Everything works fine...*EXCEPT* for when I have to utilize Siri on my phone.

Previously, I'd hold the home button, wait for Siri to pop up, and then wait for Sync to open up the mic. I could then give my command.

Now, I hold the home button, wait for Siri to pop up, and Sync will pick up that I want to utilize the truck mic....but it doesn't activate it, evidently.

It worked fine with 4.4. So far I've...

- deleted and repaired the phone
- reloaded my iPhone (up to and including the DFU Recovery)
- Sync Rebooted
- pulled the fuse

About the ONLY thing I've not done is to remove the (-) battery terminal and let it sit for 15 minutes or so. Any suggestions?

Did they add the Siri integration like they did in MFT Sync 3.8? Hold the truck voice button for 3 seconds and it will go to Siri instead of Sync. It seems more like 5 seconds, actually.

You're not going to believe this, but...I actually had no clue that was a thing. And I've checked - I've had people tell me "Yeah....that'll never work."

I'll actually try that on my way home to see if it works. Thanks man

Now that I've said that, it may only be for MFT. Looked it up and that's what it indicates from a year ago. Not sure if they would've added it to the basic Sync. Siri Eyes Free is the name.

I have had the same symptoms as you, though, the mic not actually turning on. Usually it gets fixed with the next phone update.

Have you updated the iPhone to 10.1.1?

Yes, but it had the issue after the update to Sync 4.6, but BEFORE the iPhone update to 10.1.1.

*throws hands up in air* NOW you tell me....

No worries...I can't be mad about not having something I never had in the first place, I suppose. LOL

See, I wasn't sure if 4.6 would include it. But I don't see any news reports, so...

I've updated mine as well.
My iPhone is ancient (iPhone 4) so no Siri, but since the update, the text message read works. It will only work for read, I get an error when I try to send a reply.

Track info on the screen works on Bluetooth now too.

I'm waiting to see if the constant indexing until it fills the index is fixed.
It usually takes a couple of weeks until I get the "index is full" announcement.

I have an odd issue with iPod 5th Gen classic though.

If I do a play artist, or play album, then do a play track after that, it plays the wrong song.
She will say "playing (track name)" and repeat the track I asked for, then actually play something different. She will always play the same wrong track for a given song though.
It only does this with my 5th Gen classics. I have an iPod Nano (4th gen I think) that does not do this.

At least the newer Sync versions recognize the "skip when shuffling" tag.
My wife's 08 Taurus X does not, so I have to keep all my Lewis Black off the iPod in her car....

As best I can tell, they've done something to the Bluetooth profile that's used in 4.6, because I see the same thing with Cortana on Windows Phone 8.1.

The only resolution I've found was to go back to Sync 4.4.
