That's kind of what I was thinking...buddy of mine at work has an F150 and has NOT updated to 4.6, so I tried it with his truck, and it works fine, meaning it's not the newest iOS update.

Not sure I want to step it back to 4.4, though. Frankly, it just gives me more of a reason to NOT utilize the phone unless I'm stopped or out of the truck.

Bringing this thread back because but I read above and still don't understand, so thanks for any help.

A new to me 2012 STX. Updated sync software last week (not sure what version but should be latest) and iphone5 running on 10.1.1.

Can make/receive calls, receive text, but don't know how to get Siri to work. Either through sync or through phone. When I press home button, Siri will wake up on phone but doesn't seem to hear me.

The general consensus is the 4.6 update broke Siri.

Not a big deal for me because I didn't have an iPhone with Siri until about a month ago, so I've not been sucked in to depending on Siri......

Yet another reason to not drink the apple flavored cool-aid.

I have an iPhone and have not been "sucked in" to using Siri.

There are times where it's handy. Especially for hands-free directions.

As others have said, I'm pretty sure the update itself is the issue. I can't remember the specifics, but the idea (supposedly) is that the type of BT connection that Ford Sync sees the iPhone as has changed. The system (Sync) is notified that you want to use Siri, and the phone hands the responsibility over to Sync, but Sync never activates the microphone....therefore the reason we can't use Siri.

Did some testing, though:

Different non-iPhone phone - works fine with Sync
Sync Reboot - Siri no workee
Reapplying 4.6 - Siri no workee

Others have said (I forget where) that downgrading to 4.4 reintroduces "Bluedooth" but at least Siri works. I'll just wait until I can either get a new radio, or truck. LOL

Having the same issue. Would love to downgrade to 4.4. Anyone have the 4.4 update file they can send? Thanks!

My issue is a little bit different...
I purchased a 2012 FX4 back in February. Have not done any upgrades to sync system. Fast Forward to November, I upgraded from my Galaxy S5 to the iPhone 7. Now I now longer receive text message notifications through sync. Never had a problem with it with my Samsung. It still receives calls just fine. Also when connected via Bluetooth my text message notification sound does not play. I am assuming this is because it is tryin to play the sounds through the Bluetooth audio and I am playing music via usb drive.

Hi bennutts,

Make sure you have SHOW NOTIFICATIONS turned on: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-...ur-iphone.html

Let me know if this helps!

I update mine and noticed the volume on Bluetooth audio is so low I can barely hear it with the volume all the way up. Anyone else?

Sync is effing awful. The updates seem to be one step forward, two steps back. Makes it even more frustrating
