Price is not to bad IMO, miles are quite high for a 12, Third party warranties are worthless, also IMO. I have the 5.0L in my truck and love it.

you say the bedliner looks fairly new, ask dealer to remove it and see condition of the bed. had a friend buy a used truck with a new bedliner, brought it home and after a few weeks pulled the liner out and the bed had a hole cut in bed for a gooseneck. i would ask the dealer selling the truck for a 1 year or 12k mile warranty thrown in. personally i wouldn't spend that much on truck with that many miles without knowing the person that owned it. unless you are paying cash the interest will be higher and no warranty then add a warranty you can buy a lesser model 2013 Supercrew XLT 4x4 for around $30-31k. if not new find a lower mileage 2009-2011 for alot less money.

These are all very good points. Since no one has resoundingly said "yes, buy it, good deal!", I'm going to have to proceed with some more caution. I'm going to look under the truck and see if there is a hole in the bed underneath the bed liner. That would really be a deal breaker for me.

The trouble is, I had a Lariat before, and really got spoiled with the creature comforts they offer. Even my wife took a look at the interior of an XLT and said "bleh". I really like that the Lariat has an auto-4x4 mode, something chevy's have had for years and I really enjoyed on my trailblazer. But I do understand that even if I drive it 10k or less miles per year, in 4 years it will have 100k miles on it, which averages out to 20k miles/year which is still high when it comes time to resell.

Who knows if three or four years from now the 5.0 will begin to experience a problem similar to the cam phaser debacle of the 5.4 Triton? I'll only be doing light towing (no more than 3500 pounds), and using the truck for "date night" duties. Unless I get tired of driving my bare bones no frills kia for commuting, the truck will stay parked in the driveway or garage (if I can squeeze it in) most of the time.

But, trucks do last a long time these days, hell, my neighbor has an 02 RAM with 185k miles on it, and at 20k miles per year that's about what I'd be on track for if I buy this truck. Maybe I'll take a tour of the ford dealer again tomorrow and see if they will cut me any special deals since I have this one in writing right now.

I for one wouldnt do the deal with that many miles. It seems odd in such a short time. Plus like someone said oil changes! Thats an oil change every month and I doubt it was done. If you like it though and can get some sort of warranty from the dealer then try it out. I would see if you can check the Throttle body to see if it has any oil residue. These trucks even eco's have alot of blow by and it can affect performance. Catch can people get one! Rev Xtreme (RX) would be the way to go!

I don't think I would do it. I drive a lot, and I mean a lot. I bought my truck in about 4 months ago and have almost 12k on it. I know how much I'm in my truck driving and I can't hardly imagine driving another 20k over what I do in a year. I'm sure that the truck is a good truck, but you are paying for longevity here, if you can love without it now I would shop around for something maybe even a little older with less miles. As has been said you can get a new XLT for close to that. If you enjoy the luxury that much, I would pay to play, spend another 10-15k and get a brand new lariat. Even at 15k more you'd essentially be paying about 4 bucks a mile and it would be new, exactly what you want, and have a ford warranty. Just a thought.

I think it would depend on how many miles that you drive. By the looks of the truck, it looks clean and well cared for. the price is great, I just sold my 2011 F150 Lariat, fully loaded for $30,250 and it had 22,000 miles on it. I feel if your not going to be killing it with miles yourself, like under 1000 miles a month, I would go for it. I would look into a reputable extended warranty. I had the 5.0 in my 2011 and t was a great engine. Good luck with your decision.

I will be driving it 7-10k miles a year at the most. I have a motorcycle for summer and a little kia rio for commuting. The kia rio is like fred flintstones car compared to this lariat but it gets the job done. The trouble is, I can't afford new (I was looking at an ecoboost XLT for 31.5k and I would have to trade in to get that price), and I just didn't like the numbers. I'd have to finance that same new truck for 84 months to get the same payment I'm getting with this used one at 72.

i think you said earlier in the thread that the dealership that got it on trade has NOT changed the oil yet? if so pull the dipstick and see what the oil looks like. if its pretty clean, looks like new oil it would suggest regular maintenance was "probably" done. if its dirty, nasty looking stay the hell away, run far far away and don't look back.

I looked at the truck today before they had finished "recon", so it had basically been washed and that's it. Inside still needed to be cleaned (dash and plastic on doors was a little dirty). By the time I get down there on Monday they will have finished detailing it and changing the oil. I couldn't even take it on a proper test drive, which is why they are making my deposit fully refundable upon inspection on Monday (usually this 500 dollar deposit is not refundable).

i don't understand why you want such a nice truck if its not going to be a daily driver. your clearly concerned about your payments, and you can get a decent workhorse of a truck ( and some of the older ones are still pretty nice) for half of what your paying for this truck. get the cheap work horse truck and trade the rio for a nicer daily driver. my 2 cents heh.

i was in a similar situation a few years ago, i had a mustang gt as a daily driver and picked up an 07 ram qc hemi used for practical purposes, hauling, towing etc.

payed $13500 out the door for the ram with 80k miles. served me well for a couple of years before i decided to consolidate back down to one vehicle and traded the stang and ram for my current truck last month.

edit: might ask and see if you can find the tech that changed the oil on monday, see what they had to say about the oil condition that came out of the truck and what they thought overall. of course they could feed you a line, or maybe they wont who knows. doesn't hurt to ask though

but in the end all i have to say is this. do what makes YOU happy.
