Actually, don't you need the new USB port setup to use Android Auto and Carplay?

Also, did you use the OEM GPRS Antenna with the Blue Fakra Adapter? or are you able to use any GPRS Antenna?

Thanks for putting up with all my questions.
You'll need to get the new USB hub (either CarPlay capable or AA only), otherwise Sync 3 v2.2 will complain about the old USB hub not being compatible every time you start the truck (it'll still work).

Since you've already got a hub that has power, you'll tap into power and ground there (connector views are of the plug facing you, not the side the wires go into) If you look close on the MFT hub connector, you'll see small numbers on the end of each row to help you find the pins:

Wires 2 and 3 on the Sync 3 Hub pigtail aren't used and can be taped up. You'll need the WPT1239 pigtail (power for USB hub) - CU2Z-14S411-AA, and USB Hub bezel adapter - GC3Z-19C149-A in addition to the Sync 3 USB hub. The hub fits into the bezel adapter, which takes up the gap from the old hub.

I just bought a generic antenna with a blue fakra connector off of eBay, and it works fine. The wire came out of the connector side on me after plugging and unplugging a few times, so I glued it in place. One of those parts that you get what you pay for I suppose; for $10 it's easy to get another one, or get a spare.

Thanks again, I've got the pigtail, just need to order the hub, I wanted to see how it worked with the original unit, which it seems to work fine other than the complaint which is no big deal. I'll still be ordering the new hub as I do want carplay.

I'm curious, does the new MM allow for faster charging? I've noticed that my Note 5 seems to lose battery when hooked up for AA. That would be nice if it could charge or at least maintain the level of charge.

Would love to do this mod, but seems like finding the 8" bezel w/manual climate control is nearly impossible to find. Was it a tremor exclusive piece?

Anyone know whether its possible to swap out the climate modules?

yes this was exclusive to the Tremor

you beat me to this. I haven't posted it yet but it looks possible to swap the control board, but the board will need to be cut to eliminate the upper circuitry. I think this will work but it's hard to tell without trying. The boards are nearly identical with similar circuits visually that is. If anyone is willing to sacrifice their 4.3" EMTC board, I'll donate this extra 8" control panel from a '14 Limited that has a bogus control board.

Won't that affect the way the presets work? Do the boards connect to the bezel with same connector and number of wires? I guess it might be worth it to plug it in before hacking it up. I'm not to that point with mine yet.

I'm done with Sync 2. I'd love to go to Sync 3, and it would be cheaper than buying a comparable capacitive aftermarket H/U. From my research, it seems there were ~688 tremors built, and the odds of finding the proper 4.2" - 8" bezel are slim to none.

I'm willing to be a guinea pig and attempt to retrofit the 4.2" climate controls to the 8" bezel, definitely buying an extra module to be safe though since my truck is my DD.

Worst case scenario I wasted a couple bucks. Most all 13-14 bezels can be had fairly cheap on fleabay.

The only other solution I know of would be to track down a new dash harness and attempt to convert to dual climate, but I'm not particularly interested in that option.

Would also be interested to know whether this has any effect on the Kicker upgrade system. I imagine it shouldn't but always good to know.

i've been searching for the tremor bezel for about a month now and had no luck. even tried a few dealers and no one can order me a new one, and if they could prices have ranged from $275-350.

the 8" dual climate bezels can be had for under $50 on ebay. the 4.2" bezels seem to be $80-130 on ebay.

i too have been debating trying to swap boards/controls but haven't really done anything with it yet. i can't really work on the truck for another 1-2 months due to weather so for now i am just holding tight and hoping i can find a tremor bezel.

I feel like rnlcomp tried to swap the circuit boards from a 4.2" bezel to an 8" bezel and coudn't get it to work. I just can't find his thread on it now. Maybe someone can reach out to him.

Thanks cajun. That's the one. I see now why I couldn't find it. it wasn't rnl's thread. He just contributed. Looks like you can transfer 4.2" controls to an 8" bezel mostly, but the buttons not being the same would drive me nuts though.
