Well according to the OP of that thread, everything works just plugging into the new climate control board with the exception of the passenger temp **** and the media button. It appears the 4.2" display supports the auto climate control.
I imagine doing the swap to MFT or Sync 3 will fix the media button since it likely is trying to perform a function the 4.2" display doesn't support.

Still leaves the issue of the useless passenger temp ****. May look into what it takes to add dual climate because a useless **** would drive me crazy.

Rnl mentioned the buttons being pressed in. I ordered of the 8" bezels and a spare 4.2" bezel last night and they should be in next week. Hopefully next weekend I will be able to "persuade" them to come out.

In this thread I believe the OP was working on adding dual climate control. I haven't read to the end, so I don't know if he ever completed it.

Yeah did a little more digging and its not worth it. Would need to switch evap units and evacuate the AC and all that jazz and I'm not about to do that.

thanks, this just made my day. since the bezel needed for most of us doing the swap is made of unobtanium i am thrilled to hear the "standard" 8" bezel buttons are plug-n-play with the exception of the passenger temp ****. the media part doesn't matter to me as i use sync to change sources anyway (ya, i'm lazy!).

i am going to order my bezel right now. thanks again for finding that thread.

Just a quick update for you gentleman.

Received the spare 4.2" bezel and 8" bezel today for testing. I can confirm that buttons CAN be swapped between bezels. Now all that remains is to test whether or not trimming the PCB board is possible (as in, the board remains functional).

If so, then the illusive Tremor bezel will no longer be necessary and anyone should be able to do this swap.

I was wondering what you guys meant when you said button swap. I could have told you they fit the bezel..I thought I posted a picture! Ha. Anyway, trim that board and give it a go.

Ha oh well. I knew they would fit physically, was just a question of whether or not they could be removed without being destroyed. Turns out their pretty easy to swap over.

My hopes are that cutting the board just loses all functionality above the cut, like the 2 rows of buttons besides the screen and the small row above the cd player for navigating the 4.2" screen.

If the board dies altogether, oh well. Was worth the $70 to find out.

I also noted there's two screw holes missing between the boards on the top. A hole can easily be drilled, as I think the board is bare there, or I think it'd be ok not to drill it and not have it secured in that location.

Yeah I saw that as well. There are a LOT of screws holding this pcb to the bezel, so if the cut works I may leave it be unless it interferes with CD's ejecting/inserting. No point in rolling the dice a second time.

Unfortunately nothing is labeled on this PCB so unless your an EE or CE, its kind of like feeling around in the dark. Just hoped it doesn't trigger my airbags or something crazy when I try it....which will likely be tomorrow after work.

I am thinking that if someone figures this all out, and then puts together a conversion kit they could have a great little side business and make some decent fun money.
