Thumbs up That hole in the front bumper? --> Problem solved!

If you're like me and live in a state that doesn't require a front license plate, you know that when you remove the plate holder, there's a great big gaping hole in the middle of your front bumper. I have scoured the internet for a lower billet grill for my 2011 FX4, and couldn't find one. I asked some posters on this forum too, but still wasn't able to find anything.

Last month, I went to my local truck accessories store to purchase a Bak-Flip F1 and there, hanging on the wall, was just what I was looking for. Turns out a local machine shop, just south of Detroit, started producing what I believe is a great solution. There have it in chrome and black. It even has the same radius curve as the front bumper.

Here's the before and after:

That looks great! How much is it? And can you get more if needed?

I think I paid about $80, but I added it to the bill after spending over a thousand, so, I may have gotten a deal.

The place I got it is called Lake Orion Truck Accessories. Website is lotaparts.com.

If you have the EB engine, you shouldn't cover that spot due to the extra radiator.

Perhaps that's true, but it seems like it's not that much different than having a license plate there.

I saw a pic on this site where someone with the EB engine that put the plate on the passenger side and left the hole open. I assumed that was done by the dealer.

A plate doesn't cover the whole area like the insert. So not sure if that will be a problem.

It looks good on your truck though.

The EB plate goes to the right (looking at the front) of the hole.
