I was called a troll for asking in another thread so i am asking here instead. i have a new f150 which i love with sync. my question is where do you learn how to use anything on it? i dont find it very user friendly. i know now that it doesnt work that great with a iphone but thats what i am stuck with. i do i find out what apps work with it. if i plug it in through usb instead of bt can i text with it? i am signing up for sync my ride right now.

I am with you and I am not a troll either. I really like the features of Sync, but like you I don't find it at all user friendly. I think it was designed with the computer geeks in mind. Having said that, I read the manual front to back, learned a lot applying what computer knowledge I had from running a PC. I have called the Sync Help Line and found them helpful and some not so helpful. What it boils down too is you are pretty much on your own. Forums like this helps as I have picked up some things here that I could not understand in the manual and went out in the truck and just played with it until either I got frustrated and quit and then later went back and figured it out. So my wisdom to you is play it with, read the manual and try to apply what you have read. It is a real learning curve for us Non-Geek folks

I only use operator assist when the system can't understand my destination location (OR lists too many choices that i have to listen thru.....its using my cell phone minutes to dial up).

Just like LOWES the other day. You know LOWES HOME IMPROVEMENT STORES....

the damn thing listed like 17 matches in my own city. (and there aren't that many listings with LOWES in this town in any form or fashion).

when I called the operator assist. She immediately said Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse?

I guess I wasn't specific enough for the voice system.

Even then, it gave wrong directions, and was telling me to turn down roads that would have definately NOT have led me there. When I finally arrived there, damn thing tells me I've reached my destination.

NO SH*T, of course, with no help from "services/directions".

60 over 3yrs. Then you can pay. Had my truck for 1 yr and have only used 2. Sync works great for me the majority of the time. Going on a 2wk trip to Colorado this Saturday so will probably use a few. :-)

rexster314 yep did register with sync community. Learn a bit, learn a bit there. Read the manual too, but not being in the geek world it is not written for the ordinary operator. But, that is what learning is all about and I just view it another learning curve. It is just one of the many cool features about the F150 I l really like.

Works great with my iphone, with a couple limitations thanks to apple, not Ford.

There is a difference between you not knowing how to use it, and it not working.
