Default Sync and privacy issues

There are two or three ..(or is it four) pages in the Owners Manual having to do with privacy issues. They are toward the front...in the first 10 pages.

Aftr reading those pages carefully , you might not want to use Sync.

As to the general learn of Sync, IMO yo have to have some computer and phone savy as was said above.

I learned many of the commands on accident. I knew the music commands from my '09 and then the '11 introduced new ones. I turned my head when giving a command one day and it thought I said SERVICES. Then I just listened to my options. But I know there are other things I'm missing, I just don't know what they are. I do like the ability to get traffic reports though.

My biggest beef with SYNC is the fact that after using Bluetooth Audio with my iPhone, the sync system is screwed for the next 24 hours. Doesn't listen to voice commands, refuses to pair with my phone, etc.

I have found that you can avoid using operator assist by looking up the destination first in Google Maps on your PC or on your smartphone and using an app to send the destination to Sync.

I know the OP said they use iPhone, but the android app is "Send To Car" in the Play Store. Its free and works great. When you go to sync services->directions, it asks if you want to go to the destination sent from Google maps.

If you are looking up a destination on your computer, you can click on the destination on the map, then select "More", then Send. It will pop up a dialog box were you can send the destination address to Car.

I've used Bluetooth Audio with my iPhone lots of times, and I've never had any issues with SYNC after. Weird.

Well that's not entirely true. I have noticed that if I leave the truck and come back, the source is no longer Bluetooth Audio, and I have to re-select the source, kind of a PITA.

What's the difference between MOG and Spotify? I have been using Spotify on my Macbook, iPad, and the ipod touch I jacked from my son. I absolutely LOVE it. I use the touch in the truck through USB and it displays the song and artist on the info screen but it's $10 a month for the offline mode which sucks bad but it's worth it to me.

they are close to the same. however MOG is supposed to have more integrated controls with ford sync. which seems true to me i can use the MOG radio, downloads etc all my voice control. also MOG allows me and my wife to use at the same time unlike spotify. i found MOG on the syncmyride website. and it is awesome. there is a 7 day trial check it out. 10 dollars a month after that

Thank you for the damn good answer! I was searching everywhere and I even saw comments saying it was better than Spotify but couldn't figure out why but working better with Sync is good enough for me! I already pay $10 a month anyways so why not! I do like that for the Spotify basic you can listen to unlimited music and you will never get charged though. I see that MOG charges $5 a month just for that on your laptop.
