Factory Nav Worth It?
Just wondering if the guys who have the factory navigation think it was worth it or not? It seems that i cant find a truck like i want that has the nav in it so i've been thinking i should just pass on it maybe. Either that or i can keep looking until something comes along.

As BobbyC pointed out, it's more than just a "plain" NAV. On a long drive the fuel low warning light came on, and then on the NAV, locations of all gas stations automatically started to be displayed. Once I filled up, the NAV went back to "normal."
The integrated radio/media display, HVAC and phone, all of it controlled and accessible via the NAV screen.
It's the little things that make me truly appreciative that I got the NAV, and will never get another Ford without it.

Not worth it for me...
My $700 iPad blows it away in functionality, screen resolution, has full internet connectivity, and mounts up in pretty much a perfect position using some RAM mounts. Not to mention music, news, email, movies, netflix, pandora, etc.
I can even check out the latest posts on F150forum while I'm blasting down the highway! (just kidding...)

. Great idea with the iPad, but to be honest the nav screen with sync is about the same size, plays DVDs, iPod, music, news, entertainment, pandora, has Bluetooth, iPad doesn't make calls and your paying at least 25 bucks a month to use it. So add that to the 700 for the ipad and whatever the install was and bam there is close to the same cost of nav and that includes the Sony system too. And if ur 3g signal goes out, oops so does your nav signal. Not to mention whoever is sitting on your passenger side has some bulky thing takin up half their leg room. Like I said nothing wrong with it, looks cool just not for me. I have an iPad too and love it but usually use it for work while on vacation. I love my nav. Sync I can do without though.
iPad
1. Screen size is almost double stock nav,
2. Components for install where about $80,
3. Maps for nav download in advance, no need for continuous 3G signal, though with 3G I can get up-to-the-second traffic cams, construction status, accident reports, etc.
4. Although hard to tell from the picture, zero impact on passenger room,
5. Have a cell phone anyway, but you can easily make voice calls on a 3G iPad with either skype or google voice.
Certainly understand if the solution isn't for you, but I have nav systems similar to the Ford unit in my other vehicles, and after using a network-connected device like the iPad, it is pretty frustrating to be limited to a non-network connected gps.

I have it and it's nice to see the stock look, but if I was to buy again I'd actually opt not for the nav and do the in dash iPad mod.
