Factory Nav Worth It?
So what does the Nav do that the stock sync system doesn't? Mine will give me traffic, sports, travel information, stocks, etc. You have a screen that shows the scores instead of a cell phone? I guess I do not understand the point. Especially for $2500. I can control Pandora from a cell phone just like you. I just don't see it. My truck gives me navigation over the sound system and has scrolling prompts on the screen. What is it again that makes it worth $2500? You hvac controls are touchscreen so you have to look where you are touching instead of by feel? I just don't get it.
Not worth it for me...
My $700 iPad blows it away in functionality, screen resolution, has full internet connectivity, and mounts up in pretty much a perfect position using some RAM mounts. Not to mention music, news, email, movies, netflix, pandora, etc.
I can even check out the latest posts on F150forum while I'm blasting down the highway! (just kidding...)

That's a good point as I had read about an incident where someone was in a rollover and he was injured by the flying "projectiles" that were his cell phone and small dog (yep). Ever since that, I have been always mindful of loose objects laying in the my cars, to include my own dogs...
Two other points: the Nav option also includes the upgraded Sony stereo system with subwoofer. Also, it displays the reverse camera image which is nice instead of the tiny image on the rear view mirror on non-nav trucks.
After the EB engine the best part of the truck. Forget Ipads and other bs . Those are band aids for a good integrated system, no comparison, period. Want and italian restaurant push a button and tell it, want a reservation? Push call and its done automatically through your phone and done. Want to know the weather on the way? Check the weather map!
Just a reality check for i pad geeks, I can do more from my evo than you could ever do from an I pad, in fact you can do more from an iphone too! Utter waste of money to check your email surf the web and show ypur pictures.

Otherwise, I would have been contemplating some sort of iPad setup like pfbz.
But no going back now!
I initially was set on getting Nav for my truck. Then I took a step back and evaluated everything to include the price. Didn't make sense for me to spend all that money on Nav.
1. I can (and did) get a Garmin with free map updates for life (others have said factory Nav updates cost $100 each time) at a substantially smaller cost. And that Garmin is portable so I can take it in other friend's or family's vehicle if we take their vehicle on a long trip.
2. Nav automatically comes with the Sony sound system with the subwoofer. (It is available without Nav also as an option.) I didn't want that as one of the top 3 reasons I was sold on a Ford was the fully flat load floor with a ton of space. I haul stuff in the back seat area all the time, and I don't want a subwoofer in my way.
3. I like and prefer having my backup camera displayed in my rearview mirror instead of having to look at the console
4. Everything you can do with the factory Nav, you can do in a non-Nav truck with the exception of the navigation itself and a screen to play with. Sports scores, weather updates, making phone calls, etc you can still get/do in a non-Nav truck. I think actually you can get voice directions in a non-Nav truck also but I'm not certain about that.
5. I plan on keeping my truck for at least 10 years. Not everybody plans on having their truck that long I realize, but I'm referencing my personal circumstances only. That Nav will definitely become obsolete before I'm ready to trade it in.
6. Most of my driving is spent around areas I know well. Nav is great for when you're taking long trips or have to go somewhere you've never been, but that only takes a small portion of my overall driving. So pulling out the Garmin for those rarer occassions works for me. If I spent all my time traveling across the country and to areas I don't know then maybe the factory nav would make sense.
